Alex Patterson, PsyD
I am accepting virtual and in-person clients! As a therapist, I am active, warm, humorous, and curious. I am primarily relational, psychodynamic, and depth-oriented. I believe people make sense, and we treat ourselves the way others and the world has treated us. My ideal clients are undergraduate and graduate students who have a difficult interpersonal and trauma history and experiences guilt, shame, anxiety, depression, loneliness, panic, and suffering as a result. I have a particular specialty in working with athletes, musicians, gamers, grad students, and students who are struggling to establish their foothold in adulthood. My journey through college was a long and difficult one, and I use my experiences to help clients navigate their own journey. I offer a genuine, authentic therapeutic relationship with boundless interest and empathy for clients.
I prioritize cultural humility and don't shy away from difficult, uncomfortable, and painful conversations. My style works best with clients who want an authentic interpersonal therapeutic relationship, and/or clients who want to do deep work involving understanding how their past relationships and experiences affect their present relationships and experience.
I take as much responsibility for client's healing as they do, and work hard to offer a specific, unique treatment experience for each client that meets their relational and experiential needs.
I strive to create a therapeutic environment that is in active service of reaching the goals that each client brings, and embrace the process as it unfolds. If this sounds like you, I can help!
