Everyday someone struggles with the idea of whether therapy is the right choice for them. Many people attempt to “push through”, ignore or avoid dealing with issues that may be reoccurring in their life. For some it’s about not wanting to share personal information with a stranger. Other times it’s about fear of trying something new. For many it’s about believing that they can resolve issues without support from others. Some may feel that seeking therapy is a sign of weakness. Oddly enough it takes strength and self awareness to recognize when support may be helpful. The goal of the clinician is always to provide support in a nonjudgmental, non threatening environment.
