The students I work with are usually managing more than they let on. Classes, work, money, family expectations, a relationship that is complicated, and a growing sense that everyone else got a manual they did not.

A lot of them are anxious. Not always in the obvious way. Sometimes it looks like lying awake running through everything you said that day. Sometimes it looks like putting off an email for three weeks because opening it feels impossible. Sometimes it looks like doing fine on paper and feeling hollow about it.

A lot of them are also in the middle of a decision. Whether to change majors. Whether to stay. What happens after graduation when the plan you had at eighteen stopped making sense. Those questions belong in therapy just as much as the anxiety does, and in my experience they are usually tangled together.

You do not need to be in crisis to talk to someone. Wanting more support than you have right now is enough of a reason.

I was the first person in my family to go to college. I did it without anyone who could tell me how it worked, and I figured out fairly late that asking for help earlier would have saved me a lot. That is part of why I do this work.
