Starting college is a major life transition that can be exciting, but also challenging and overwhelming. Adjusting to new routines, increased academic demands, and changing social circles is difficult for many students. Nearly 76% of college students report experiencing moderate to severe stress or distress, with anxiety, loneliness, and depression being especially common during this stage of life. If you’re feeling stuck, anxious, or isolated, therapy offers a supportive space to process tough emotions and big changes. Together, we can develop coping strategies that build resilience and self-compassion, helping you navigate these challenges and rediscover your inner strengths. Change is hard, but you don’t have to figure it out alone!

PEERS® Denver offers parent/coach-assisted social skills programs for teens (ages 13-17) as well as young adults (ages 17-29). Developed at UCLA, the PEERS® program is backed by extensive research showing positive and lasting results in the social lives of the teens and young adults who participate. The goal of the program is to teach skills that are essential for making and keeping friends (and in the young adult program, dating skills are also covered). Meetings are held for 90 minutes once per week over a 16-week period. Each week, the teens and young adults will learn a new set of skills in a particular topic area (for example, starting and maintaining conversations, joining group conversations, having get-togethers, etc.), and they will also get a chance to practice those skills through games, role plays, and other activities. Parents/coaches will meet all together in a separate group at the same time as the teens and young adults. Parents/coaches will learn the exact same skills as their teens and young adults, but they will get specific instruction in how to act as social coaches, so they can most effectively support their teen or young adult in practicing and applying the skills. Groups will be offered both virtually and in-person beginning in January of 2022. For a free 15-20 minute phone screen to learn more about whether this program is the right fit for you and your family, please call the Program Director, Dr. Jason Peirce, at 720-645-8827.
“The real warriors in this world are the ones that see the details of another’s soul…they are the sensitive souls that understand that before they could be a light they first had to feel the burn.” -Shannon L. Adler. I too, identify as one of those sensitive souls (HSP), and am excited about working alongside other real warriors in an often insensitive world. As a fellow adoptee as well, I can relate with those who may have experienced this grief as well, and the trauma often surrounding that. Through Brainspotting, Nuerofeedback, CBT, and some integrated approaches, I’m excited to begin working at this practice and help others through these various modalities. Even if you don’t identify as a HSP, I’d love to work with you and help you through whatever difficulties you may be experiencing. I’m most passionate about nature and the outdoors, so aside from offering normal in office therapy, will be offering both virtual sessions, as well as walk and talk therapy. Nuerodivergents, and those with sensitive nervous systems are amongst populations I love working with.

Hello! I am a clinical psychologist specializing in supporting individuals and couples who want to better understand themselves, how they relate to others and all of life. My style is warm, active, and genuine. I strongly believe in the importance of building an authentic and trusting relationship for therapy to be effective. My approach is always grounded in compassion and curiosity for how my clients experience themselves and the world. College should be about growth, not just survival. If you're struggling with unpredictable mood swings, overwhelming worry, lots of sadness, or using substances to cope, or climate anxiety, I'm here for you. I love helping college students navigate the challenges of this phase of life which can be both exciting and scary. I have been in practice for 25+ years and believe in helping young adults develop the best version of themselves. I have experience treating anxiety, depression, grief, self esteem issues, relationship challenges, and general life transitions. I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy, in addition to mindfulness practices. I also offer EMDR as a treatment modality when appropriate. My experience as a parent to a current college student and a recent grad has helped me appreciate the nuances of this phase of life from a different perspective. I am a solo practitioner in Wheat Ridge and am currently offering both in person and telehealth appointments. I accept Kaiser and Humana insurance in addition to private pay.
As a bilingual licensed clinical psychologist with over a decade of experience in medical and community-based settings, I have supported people coping with chronic medical conditions, depression, anxiety, academic and learning concerns, trauma, and neurodivergence. Having lived, traveled, and worked in a diversity of regions throughout my early adulthood and career, I have built strong relationships with people from all walks of life. These experiences have informed my perspective and values as a professional and a human. Are you looking for shorter term support in addressing a particular relationship or stressor? Perhaps you are feeling stuck in anxiety or low energy and need a gentle nudge to “get moving” on something. Or maybe you view therapy as a more gradual, exploratory process. I view you as the expert on your life experiences and needs, and myself as a non-judgmental adviser and holder of hope on your healing journey. I approach each session with curiosity, realness, and humility. My therapeutic interventions are rooted in cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and attachment theories and I value and support the exploration of intersecting identities and the impact of systemic bias, racism, and privilege on mental, interpersonal, and community wellbeing. Regardless of our focus, I am committed to providing a safe and supportive space as we face life's challenges together, and my hope is that you will leave each session feeling both challenged and nurtured.
I have worked in college/university counseling centers for most of my career, and love serving both undergraduate and graduate students with a variety of mental health concerns.
