I have been working with individuals, couples and families since 1996. I received my BS degree in Psychology from Spelman College (1992) and my Masters degree in Community Counseling from Georgia State (1996). I am proud to have a culturally diverse clientele that I've worked with for 20 plus years. Some of my areas of interest and training include: general mental health concerns (depression, anxiety); couples and partnership concerns, substance abuse/recovery, young adult issues, adjustment difficulties and more. I work with all clients in a manner that is personal, respectful and results-oriented. Whether you are entering therapy for the first time or restarting the therapeutic process, we can work together and make positive changes.
Human life is full of distractions and failures, and treatment, either psychological or physical, is likewise. We will have moments of perceived failure and distractions. That is OK…. new ways of thinking take time and practice. A trusting relationship between client and therapist is the most important factor in therapeutic success. I work hard to earn and keep your trust. I operate from a positive psychotherapy framework and provide a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental, safe place. I build this safe place so you can explore your concerns, learn about what is preventing you from living the life you want, or search for your preferred future. My counseling style is kind, caring, and built on relationships. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and non-judgment. Admitting to yourself that you can not do everything alone and reaching out to a professional for help are the first steps towards living your preferred future. The way in which we live is greatly influenced by how we see the world. Asking for help, and getting a new perspective is often the most profound step towards your preferred future. The more support you gain, the more able you will be to heal and grow. Therapy is an investment in yourself and is ALL ABOUT YOU. I am part of the Path referral network, which means that when you reach out, my team will get back to you quickly to schedule our first session. Through Path, I am in-network for most commercial insurances, and the average cost of a session for clients who use their insurance is less than $30.
Welcome! Does life sometimes look different than you expected it to be? Do you wonder about your life purpose or what gives you value? We all wrestle with our identity and challenge our self-worth when difficult times emerge in our lives. Some of us struggle with depression, anxiety, grief, or life stage issues and need someone to walk with us and help us navigate during those times. I would love to journey with you through the ordinary and the extraordinary moments of your life. I weave the unique knowledge of theology and counseling into practice together when desired by the individual. I have worked with various populations, serving in both rural and urban settings as a therapist, crisis clinician, and pastor. I specialize in psychological and spiritual wellness by taking a holistic view of the person in the community.

I have especially enjoyed working with college students who may struggle with increased levels of stress, anxiety or depression or have difficulty feeling comfortable and supported in this new environment. Whether you are struggling with addiction issues, depression, anxiety, anger, sexual identity issues, relationship issues, feeling overwhelmed by life's demands, or seeking a deeper sense of purpose and meaning, we can work together to find solutions. Life can be full of pain and struggle, but it is also full of beauty and inspiration. If you have become overwhelmed by the struggle, let's begin today to lighten your burden. I offer a safe, non-judgmental place for you to share your challenges and deepest needs. I believe you have the ability to succeed and thrive when given the right tools and support. I can help you manage overwhelming emotions more effectively, to recognize and change self-defeating patterns of thinking and behaving and to heal from past traumas. In a world that can be very isolating, we all need a place where we can feel deeply heard and understood. I have such gratitude for the help and support I received along the way in my own therapy to overcome challenges and become the best version of myself. I came to this field out of a lifetime of curiosity about others and myself. My hope is to help channel your own curiosity and facilitate a journey of self-discovery, understanding, and renewed hope. The grief that comes from loss or change isn’t something to “get over” or “heal” from. Instead, I see grief as an experience that evolves and matures as we learn to adapt to our new reality and integrate these difficult changes into life after loss. None of us are exempt from experiencing grief, mourning, or large life changes. I’ve been there. That’s why I hope you will feel safe bringing me along on your journey. When I am not counseling, I am probably out there dealing with this messy life just like you, training for my next half marathon, at a yoga class or spending time with my family and friends. They would tell you I’m a great listener, caring, and empathetic. They might also share my penchant for bad puns and that I spend an inordinate amount of time planning my next meal. You might also want to know that I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (License # CSW003949) who received her MSW from the Smith College School for Social Work in 2004 and received a BA in Psychology from the University of Vermont. I have worked in various care settings including Inpatient, Outpatient and Managed Care. I have experience treating individuals and couples with a range of issues including eating disorders, marital issues and grief. I offer free 15 minute consultations. Follow the link to my secure patient portal to schedule yours.
