Therapists for college students near Atlanta, GA
I’m Jennifer and I’m excited you found my page. I love working with young adults to find their passion in life, remove blocks that are keeping them from being their true authentic selves, and learn to live a life they have always dreamed of. I practice therapy in Midtown, however, due to Covid, I currently am only offering therapy online. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified in Clinical Anxiety Treatment, and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). I have 18 years of diverse experience as a School Social Worker in K-12, an Academic Coach in Higher Ed, and as a Therapist in my own Private Practice. I absolutely love what I do. I’ve worked with young adults starting college or somewhere within their college career seeking to achieve academic success, but suffering from anxiety, overwhelm, and perfectionism. I totally understand, college was supposed to be the best time of your life….but it got really challenging. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed with the pressures of living on your own, academic pressures, loneliness, or just feel weighed down by the feelings of anxiety...come talk to me. Together, we will work on strategies that allow you to address the root causes of your difficulties and build a healthy work-life-school-balance. I utilize a variety of techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique, stress management, increasing self-worth, incorporation of meditation, mind/body connection, holistic healing, mood management, anxiety reduction, and self-empowerment. I believe in the power of the mind, body, and soul. I love being outdoors on mother earth and meditating daily. I am a vegetarian and love eating foods that nourish and heal my body from the inside out. Nobody ever said therapy was easy, however, I am a firm believer in “relationships”, so the connection with the right therapist is important. Call me!! Let's see if we are a great fit. You deserve to be happy and I would love to be a part of your journey!!

I graduated from The University of Georgia in 2011 with my masters in counseling; I worked as a staff therapist, suicide prevention coordinator, and disability services coordinator at Georgia Southern University and East Georgia State College respectively before going into private practice. I'm passionate about helping college students as they juggle demands and make major relationship and career decisions - it is a unique and overwhelming stage of life. I'm located near Charleston where I'm offering sessions via telehealth to GA & SC residents. Counseling can help improve communication between loved ones, support individuals adjusting to major life transitions, or develop coping skills to better manage emotions that have become distressing. I'm grateful you had the courage to explore counseling. Life is stressful at times and we can all use a safe place to receive support and feedback. It is my belief that each person has inherent value, and my goal is to encourage individuals to see their worth and facilitate them in making decisions they can reflect on with peace.

There is a part of me that feels extremely anxious. There is a part of me that gets really sad and down at times. There is a part of part of me that can hardly get out of bed some days. There is a part of me that needs to take care of everyone and everything. There is a part of me that wants to check out and escape from all the responsibilities I have. There is a part of me that thinks about dying and a part of me that wants to live. There is a part of me that …. How many times have we all had these feelings or thoughts that come over us that seem conflicting at times but represent how we are feeling in the moment. Understanding our parts even those that are contradictory, being able to validate and accept our parts, and creating balance and space for our parts mentally can be attained through therapy. Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) is designed to allow us to heal from our pain, hurt, and fears by managing the parts that have been created out of our traumas. We have all experienced trauma in some form, and we all have parts that have been borne from those traumas. Parts that help us manage our daily lives and parts that may tend to disrupt our lives, but all of these parts are valid and serve some self-protective purpose and can be managed once they are understood. This has been a tough time since March 2020, everything in our life changed and we experienced a universal crisis together. Simultaneously, people report issues or repressed traumas were shaken out and uncovered and demanded tending. Individuals I have seen throughout the crisis report the pandemic has been a blessing as well as a curse having grown tremendously throughout this stress. if you are willing to work on what was below the surface and really understand what is creating the chaos and anxiety in your life-long before the pandemic, I am honored to walk with you and aid you on or towards your path of personal growth and make significant changes creating serenity and improved well-being. As a therapist and teacher with over 15 years’ experience, I have the confidence to walk with you. My hope is you may tap into your wise mind, leading to extraordinary results. I am licensed in Georgia and Oregon. I work with adults and teens with anxiety and depression. I offer traditional up to date counseling techniques; CBT and DBT and creative modalities.
I specialize in working with queer and neurodivergent clients, including those with no formal diagnosis, particularly autistic people, individuals with ADHD, and couples with mixed neurotypes. I am interested in exploring embodiment, somatic interventions, expressive arts, and pleasure activism with clients. I work with a variety of needs, such as navigating non-traditional relationship structures, anxiety, depression, self-actualization, low desire, identity development, and dysphoria, and the way grief can interplay with these needs. I facilitate these explorations through a humanistic, feminist, and systems-oriented lens. My area of focus is trauma-informed sex therapy. I hope to support clients as they defang shame and center joy and pleasure in their lives. I have four years of experience working with survivors of sexual trauma and a lifetime of working with queer people; in addition, I am kink-aware, polyamory-positive and -informed, pro-sex work, and organizer-friendly.

I help women move through anxiety, stress, self-doubt, and life transitions with clarity and confidence. Whether you’re navigating career shifts, relationship changes, or simply feel disconnected from who you are, therapy can help you realign with your values, rebuild your self-trust, and reclaim your sense of direction. In my work together, we’ll identify what’s keeping you stuck—self- criticism, perfectionism, unresolved grief, or limiting beliefs—and transform those barriers into breakthrough moments. I’ll support you in using your natural strengths to problem-solve, build self-awareness, and take intentional steps toward a life that feels aligned and fulfilling. As an introvert and a therapist, I deeply understand the internal worlds many women carry quietly—feeling like you always have to “hold it together” even when you’re unraveling inside. This space is designed for you to safely unpack, reflect, and rebuild without judgment. Let’s work together to shift from self-doubt to self-assurance. You deserve to feel grounded, whole, and seen.

I primarily work with individuals struggling with compulsive behavior, including sex/porn addiction, codependency, internet/social media addiction, and problem spending/debting. Addiction is meant to make you feel less. It provides temporary numbing for lifelong pain. You feel trapped, depressed, angry, anxious, guilty, and afraid when you can't stop. Recovering from compulsive behavior, though not easy, is possible and has been accomplished many times. But it does require a complete change in beliefs and attitude, along with how to deal with life and its problems. Getting out of your head and taking action is the next indicated step. Listen to your mind and body - it's time to stop treating yourself so badly. I can help you learn to help yourself. You can become your own best advocate. All are welcome in my office, including those from BIPOC and LGBTQIA communities.
Hi! My name is Katie (she/her), and I’m excited to work together. My goal is to help you feel safe, comfortable, and free to open up at your own pace. I believe our experiences—past and present—shape the way we think, feel, and move through life. By exploring and validating your thoughts and emotions, we can start to untangle patterns, make sense of what feels overwhelming, and work toward healing. I’m here to support you whether you’re navigating depression, anxiety, grief, body dysmorphia, sexual and gender identity issues, relationship/work stress, and/or chronic illness. Finding the right words to express what you’re feeling isn’t always easy, and that’s okay. Sessions are tailored to what feels right for you. We’ll draw from psychodynamic, somatic, creative arts, and other trauma-informed approaches. Empathy, warmth, and humor are central to my practice, creating a space where you can explore and grow. Currently, I’m an MSW student at Yeshiva University in New York City and hold an MA in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University. I look forward to meeting you! -- Katie Colton is a therapist-in-training at Sol Health.
