Therapists for college students near 46202
Mental health is vital to our overall well-being. Sometimes having someone to talk to can make all the difference in our ability to cope. It's important to find a therapist that you feel comfortable with and who will help you feel safe in a nonjudgmental environment. Have you ever had difficulty processing a traumatic experience? Sometimes talk therapy alone is not enough, but brainspotting is an effective treatment that can help. Brainspotting uses your eyes to locate the part of your brain where a traumatic experience is stored and reprocess it. I am a Level Two Brainspotting trained therapist. In today's world, it can be difficult to create time to stop and figure out why we are becoming stuck. I will encourage you to pause and use your own inner resources to find a path forward.

I have been working with Young Adults for over 10 years dealing with transitions in and out of school as well as the family conflict that can arise around this time. I also work with those who are coming to understand their gender and sexuality and how to incorporate this new understanding into their lives and relationships to the degree that they are comfortable. Hello! My name is Kate, and I've been a therapist for 15 years, and a virtual therapist for 3 years. I have a Masters in Social Work and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee. I love working with people of all ages, and enjoy addressing a diverse array of issues that impair us from being our best selves. In addition to myself, I work with 4 co-therapists; 3 dogs and a cat! They occassionally make brief appearances during sessions to provide their insight. I generally approach therapy as an equal meeting of you, as the expert on yourself, and me, as someone who can give some qualified insight and ask good questions to guide you to your own answers. I tend to be warm and engaging, and I pull the most from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), although I also use certain tools from other modalities, as well. In our sessions, we will work together to target the areas in which you would like to grow, give you the tools you need in order to produce the desired growth, and tackle sticking points and struggles as you work on applying what we discuss in therapy. I generally will give "homework" between sessions to help you continue to think about and apply what we are working on in your daily life, but it's nothing intense, I promise! Most clients find the "homework" really helpful and even fun, sometimes.
Do you feel like your relationships are struggling? Are you tired of feeling like nothing you are doing is working? Maybe it's hard to communicate your needs. Do you feel like there are all these expectations on you and have no idea how you will be able to be the person your family or friends want you to be? Reaching out for help is hard. You don’t need to handle this alone. We can help. We strive to meet you where you are at and work with you to feel better. We specialize in helping with trauma and loss, communication skills, anxiety, identity issues, low self-esteem, depression, and relationship struggles. We have extensive experience working with college students. Feeling safe and understood is a goal I strive for so that you can begin the process of healing. By exploring your troubling issues, gaining a better insight into your problems and patterns of behavior, and developing new and healthy ways to cope with life’s struggles you can begin to heal and feel better.
I work with all types of individuals. I am here to help you. I specialize in CBT and trauma and gender issues.
