Therapists for college students near 02155
I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in evidence-based treatment for anxiety, OCD-related concerns, phobias, and sleep difficulties Over the past several years, I have noticed that many college students struggle academically due to undiagnosed ADHD, executive functioning challenges, and attention-related concerns that may go overlooked. In response to this need, I have added comprehensive and affordable ADHD diagnostic testing to my practice to help students better understand their difficulties, access appropriate treatment recommendations, and obtain accommodations when clinically indicated for academic settings and standardized testing. In addition to ADHD testing, I frequently work with students experiencing anxiety, obsessive thinking, perfectionism, panic, OCD symptoms, sleep disruption, and stress related to academic performance and life transitions.

"When I discover who I am, I'll be free."-Ralph Ellison. I believe that many of the challenges that inhibit us from achieving our goals are related to the difficulty in knowing ourselves and how we can maximize our strengths in order to meet the challenges we face. I believe that no matter what your presenting issue, awareness of our own goals, values, and strengths are critical. It is my goal to help clients cultivate self-awareness in order to achieve their therapeutic goals. I am a clinical social worker who specializes in working with college-age students and young adults. Using a collaborative approach, I work with clients to develop a shared understanding of the goals and preferred outcomes for therapy. I draw on many theories including cognitive-behavioral therapy, liberation health, feminist, and multicultural theories. In working with clients I strive to address the personal, institutional, and cultural factors that might be affecting a client's presentation. Do you find yourself feeling lonely, anxious, stuck in a cycle of unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, unable to move forward with goals and plans? Are you dealing with challenging life circumstances such as illness, caretaking stressors, difficult romantic or family relationships, pressure or burnout in your career, poor self-esteem? Are you trying to make changes that you believe will lead to increased happiness and satisfaction but somehow these changes are not giving you the results that you had hoped for? All of us can benefit from support to manage these challenges. Therapy gives us the opportunity to live a more peaceful and rewarding life and allows us a safe space to challenge some of our existing thoughts and behaviors. I hope to assist you in learning more effective ways of engaging with yourself and the world around you. I graduated from Boston College with my Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2004 and come with more than 19 years of experience in my field. I am trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches and together we will have the opportunity to learn what works best for you.
I collaborate with adults as they heal from trauma, anxiety, loss, depression, other mood issues, or any number of matters leaving them feeling somehow ineffective. As a clinician for over nineteen years, I will join with you to identify and transform painful obstacles, arising from past and/or present challenges, which hinder you from making healthy changes. Drawing especially from Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), we will journey together to access your core nature, the Self, more spontaneously. This leads to clarity and calm over internal and external challenges you face, resulting in heightened creativity and effectiveness with problem solving, relationship building, and goal attainment. I believe you possess all necessary strengths and pathways to answers for improving your life, but may be having difficulty accessing them at present. I welcome individuals who are gay, lesbian, or bisexual, including those questioning or seeking help adjusting to leading more open, fulfilled lives with however they identify themselves. The IFS model utilizes a non-pathologizing, mind-body focus. Drawing from the natural strengths existing within each of us, IFS and EMDR guide a person into taking the lead in one's own healing process, no matter how traumatic a background one may have lived through. On 5/4/14, I completed the Level 2 IFS training. On 3/12/17, I completed the basic EMDR training. I accept these insurances: BCBS and Medicare.

I am a short-term therapist who works specifically with clients with chronic health conditions. Over the course of 20 sessions, we learn all about what is happening in your body and brain, learn and practice coping skills to manage anxiety related to your chronic medical condition, and have the option to complete hypnotherapy for chronic illness as well. If you are struggling with mental health related to a chronic health condition, and especially if you are experiencing high amounts of anxiety and low quality of life related to health symptoms, you will be a great fit for what I provide. If you have never done therapy before, or if you have found that your current therapist doesn’t quite “get it,” and you’re hoping to work with someone that has an intimate knowledge of chronic illness and hospital systems, then you will be a great fit. I also work alongside your full-time therapist if you have a therapist you love and would like to stay with while we complete our work together. I am also a good fit for someone who is specifically seeking out an LGBTQ therapist. I only offer virtual therapy at this time.
Please email me to schedule a consultation appointment. I am a licensed mental health counselor in MA and RI. My approach to therapy is unique, in that I can help you achieve answers faster to what has been blocking you, build the life you desire, and redefine yourself using a holistic approach. We will do this together by finding root causes to your symptoms using a comprehensive assessment questionnaire, attachment theory, and evidence-based mind-body approaches; that include meditation and somatic practices. I help my clients transform their lives, reach their goals, and achieve lasting results by providing high quality care. My intent is to address the challenges you are struggling with in connection to your symptoms and help bring awareness on how these symptoms are connected to limiting beliefs, subconscious programming, and/or trauma; that created a life that no longer aligns with who you are today and where you want to be. I value treating the whole-person. As we walk through this journey together, my hope for you, is to find fulfillment within yourself, healthier relationships, healing, and post-traumatic growth. I am accepting new clients at this time and have helped hundreds of people achieve the life they seek throughout sixteen years of work experience in the mental health profession. <script src="https://thrivingcampus.com/verified.js?pid=34863"></script>
