I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in evidence-based treatment for anxiety, OCD-related concerns, phobias, and sleep difficulties Over the past several years, I have noticed that many college students struggle academically due to undiagnosed ADHD, executive functioning challenges, and attention-related concerns that may go overlooked. In response to this need, I have added comprehensive and affordable ADHD diagnostic testing to my practice to help students better understand their difficulties, access appropriate treatment recommendations, and obtain accommodations when clinically indicated for academic settings and standardized testing. In addition to ADHD testing, I frequently work with students experiencing anxiety, obsessive thinking, perfectionism, panic, OCD symptoms, sleep disruption, and stress related to academic performance and life transitions.
Going to a new therapist can be a bit stressful; what will they be like, will they understand me or really be able to help? I often get college students who have tried therapy before and it just didn't work, they do well with me. I use CBT; cognitive behavioral therapy style, give open and honest feedback (don't sit and nod) and have a sense of humor. Graduated from Northeastern, I have been doing this awhile and have some ways of problem solving and really helping. We celebrate your wins and support what you need to be successful. I am always thankful to be invited into your lives to help. This is your journey.
Hello, I’m Marsha Charlton, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC, PMH-C (PSI), a board-certified Family and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I am passionate about supporting college students as they navigate the unique challenges of academic life and personal growth. With extensive experience in both primary care and mental health, I provide comprehensive medication management and supportive psychotherapy tailored to the needs of young adults. I also hold advanced certification in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International. This credential reflects specialized training in the assessment and treatment of mental health conditions during pregnancy and the postpartum period, including mood and anxiety disorders, trauma-related concerns, and adjustment challenges. In my practice, I integrate this expertise through evidence-based screening, thoughtful medication management during pregnancy and lactation, and psychotherapy approaches designed to support individuals during the transition to parenthood. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and evidence-based. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where patients feel heard, supported, and empowered to achieve their mental health goals.

I am a clinical psychologist who specializes in adolescence and young adulthood. I completed a fellowship at Mclean Hospital in Adolescent Mental Health. I was previously a psychologist at Mclean Hospital's Klarman Eating Disorders Center where I specialized in the care of individuals struggling with eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and associated concerns. I enjoy working collaboratively with a client, couple, or family to understand how someone's struggles relate to their larger goals, hopes, and motivations and how to work to understand their experiences together and move closer to those goals. I use approaches to therapy that focus on understanding the role and functions of emotions and behaviors, understanding someone's experience in the context of relationships, and utilizing strengths and competencies in the therapy process. In addition to individual therapy, I have a passion for working with couples, families, and in relationship based therapies. I also provide parent consultation for parents supporting their child or adult child through an eating disorder. Please reach out if you have any questions and would like to schedule a complementary initial phone consultation.

Hello! My overarching approach is Relationship-Based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. I find that integrating CBT with key therapeutic relationship factors such as validation, empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness produce the best outcomes. When appropriate, I also utilize such approaches as mindfulness, acceptance, and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) skills. My goal is to not only reduce the distress from your presenting problems but also improve your overall well-being and experience personal growth across many facets of life. I have specialized in treating adolescents and adults in various settings, from inpatient psychiatric hospitals to community outpatient clinics. I can treat significant mental health issues like PTSD and chronic depression, while also providing support for significant life adjustments like transitioning to college and high school related stressors. I’m originally from central MA and a psychology professor at Assumption University where I teach graduate students to be CBT counselors. Please feel free to explore my website to learn more about me and the services I provide. You’ve learned how to hold it all together. I am a New York State licensed Psychotherapist experienced in working with a broad range of issues including depression, anxiety, loss and grief, LGBTQIA+ issues, family and relationship struggles, identity, complex life transitions, and trauma ranging from the personal to systemic. I am a graduate of Hunter College’s Silberman School of Social Work and completed training in working with Couples and Families through the Ackerman Institute for the Family and advanced post graduate training in Relational Therapy at the Stephen A. Mitchell Center for Relational Studies. I bring warmth, deep listening, honesty, cultural sensitivity and humility, and a spirit of collaboration, authenticity, and humor to my therapeutic work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I have worked extensively with adolescents and emergent adults and understand that these junctures typically involve a great deal of growth and change. This can in turn be exciting and wonderful, and also sometimes disorienting and overwhelming. I approach therapy as a collaborative exploration of an individual's lived experiences, the meanings they make out of these experiences, and the relationships they cultivate with self and others in the context of these experiences and meaning-making. In therapy together we slow these conscious and lesser conscious processes down to better understand what might be happening, where people may be stuck in self-limiting narratives or patterns, where resilience, joy, and strength can be recognized, and where growth and change are possible.
College is a challenge, on its own, in many ways. It can cause significant stress as well as trigger new or exacerbate existing mental health symptoms. Having space to work through the stress or symptoms you are experiencing can be incredibly beneficial (e.g. reduced stress, increased happiness, decrease in symptoms and/or severity, etc.), which can contribute to greater success and a greater overall experience during these years. I believe in creating a safe, supportive, nonjudgmental, and confidential therapy space that respects all identities and backgrounds where people can feel free to be their most authentic selves. I strive for people to feel comfortable in letting go of filters that tend to restrict them in honest disclosure and deep processing of their experiences. Thank you for taking the time to read about the practice and considering Sage Serenity Counseling. Please reach out if you have questions or would like to get started. I am ready to support you whenever you are ready!
