Your emotional well-being matters, and I’m here to support you in becoming a healthier, more grounded version of yourself. I hold a graduate degree in Counseling from Michigan State University and have experience working with college students and adults facing concerns such as anger management, stress, anxiety, life transitions, relationship issues, multicultural challenges, and childhood trauma. I believe healing happens best in a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment, where you can explore your experiences at your own pace. In therapy, I focus on truly understanding your story. Together, we will explore what’s happening within you, increase self-awareness, and develop practical coping skills tailored to your needs. Hi and welcome! I'm so glad you are here. I approach therapy like a conversation: collaborative, with warmth, humor and honesty. I use an integrative approach that is unique to you and your needs. Together, we’ll identify the strengths already within you, explore how you relate to yourself and others, and gently challenge what no longer works for you anymore. Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent a decade working in international and US-based nonprofits, living abroad for a number of those years and engaging with people and cultures from all over the world. I also have worked within higher education in residential life and student life roles. All of these experiences were their own sort of education, helping me learn how to navigate the changes, surprises, and complexities of life. It would be my honor to sit with you as you navigate your own story.

"Going away to college" can be a wonderful and terrifying experience all at the same time: learning how to manage the many details of daily life while figuring out the big picture of who you are and what you want to do. It can also be a time of sorting out family relationships and choosing new paths. It can bring up a lot of anxiety, stress and self-doubt. We have many combined years of helping people through these experiences. If you would like intelligent, warm and useful support in navigating your thoughts and emotions, please give us a call.

I work with teens and adults who are thoughtful, sensitive, and often high-functioning, but are carrying more than others can see. Many of my clients struggle with anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, or feeling caught in patterns that are hard to change. My work is neurodivergent-affirming. This means I don’t see ADHD, autism, or other forms of neurodivergence as problems to fix, but as important parts of how you experience the world. Whether you have a diagnosis or are simply exploring, I offer a space to better understand your brain, reduce shame, and build a life that honors your needs and strengths. I also support clients navigating trauma, grief, religious or spiritual hurt, identity shifts, and major life transitions. I offer a grounded, respectful space for exploring emotion, meaning, and self-connection. My approach integrates somatic awareness, relational depth, and gentle structure to bring steadiness and coherence. I honor grief, sensitivity, and identity work as pathways toward clarity, healing, and renewal. I am also trained in Brainspotting, a somatic therapy and am working toward becoming ADHD-CCDP certified. Therapy can offer steadiness, a place to listen inward, integrate, and reconnect with yourself. It would be an honor to be a part of your support team.

Hi! My name is Matt and I am a limited licensed professional counselor. I have been working as a counselor since 2022 and have been working in the mental health field since 2016. My first counseling job was at Central Michigan University and I worked with clients with a variety of concerns such as life adjustments, anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, trauma, etc. Before anything else, I'd first try to get to know you, your circumstances, your presenting problem, and your strengths before we focus on how we can make the best use of our time together, whether that be space to process, thinking of solutions, or something else. If we don't happen to be a match, that's ok! I work with a team of other mental health professionals who may be available to take on new clients as well.

Life is full of challenges, which I view as opportunities for growth and learning. I've worked with college students on MSU's campus for nearly 10 years which has given me a depth of understanding to the unique challenges you face. I join alongside clients who are facing a wide range of issues including: navigating life transitions, interpersonal relationship conflicts, academic or professional challenges, adjusting to changes at home or in the family structure, exposure to abuse or neglect, establishing boundaries in relationships, healing from past trauma, and navigating grief and loss. We are all on our own journeys and I welcome the opportunity to join you on yours. Our work together will be interactive and reflective, with a healthy mix of challenge and humor. We will collaborate to find the approach that best meets your needs, and your feedback and input is an essential part of the process. I incorporate a trauma-informed lens to my work and seek to understand how past experiences have shaped our current disposition and automatic responses. I am committed to providing treatment that is anti-racist, culturally responsive and affirming. My practice is client-centered and strengths-based. I utilize a warm, accepting and compassionate approach. I believe in the power of the professional relationship between client/therapist and I want to work alongside you to improve your current situation and reach your desired goals.

Lisa Olivera inspired me when she stated, “Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work, does not mean you can, should, or need to do it alone.” We all heal in different ways, and I value the importance of meeting a client where they are at in their healing journey, remaining patient every step of the way. I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to heal in a safe space, alongside someone who can guide and teach them along the way. As a therapist I am dedicated to creating a safe space for all of my clients, working collaboratively with each individual as they work towards their current goals while ensuring a consistent, non-judgmental environment is maintained. I am a LLMSW with prior work experience in private practice and family preservation. I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities and interventions, including but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Motivational Interviewing. I am committed to ensuring my clients feel that their voices have been heard, while guiding them towards recognizing their full potentials.
