My name is Chaney, and I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner. I am passionate about helping people improve their mental health and overcome the obstacles that they face. I work with children, adolescents, and adults. I am affirming to LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse folks. I also have special training and interest in helping folks with diabetes cope with diabetes distress and burnout. It is my belief that this journey to mental wellness is a partnership, and I look forward to finding unique solutions for each person I meet. I help folks achieve their health goals by prescribing medications, recommending lifestyle changes, and providing supportive talk therapy to develop coping skills. I want to work with you to find the best solution to fit your circumstances and needs. I look forward to meeting you and hearing your story. We each have challenges to overcome and at times need a helping hand to do it. It can be hard to acknowledge that something is wrong, much less that you might need help. So, rest assured that I will be glad to team up with you on the path to wellness.
We are a team of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors (LCMHC) and Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) that share the goal of creating a welcoming and safe space to explore mental health concerns, develop tools and resources, and provide support in becoming the you that you aspire to be. We chose the name Tides, not only for our shared love of the beach but also because in life "tides" or circumstances often change and we strive to be agents of positive changing tides in the lives of people we serve.

When you're struggling with an eating disorder, anxiety, or depression, the idea of opening up and trusting another person can be HARD. I know that you've likely heard so many messages throughout your life about what you should do and who you should be, but I don't think that "shoulds" have a place in therapy. Who do you WANT to be? How do you WANT to feel? That is way more important than any shoulds, and I would be honored to walk alongside you as you start to find answers to these questions over time. Together, we can unravel those expectations - what you've been told it means to be healthy or successful or fill in the blank - and get to the heart of what really matters to you and what you need. Being a human is messy, and as your therapist, I'll be right there in that space with you as a human first, therapist second. Let's explore what it means to be humans in a world that expects perfection (which doesn't exist!) and pushes you to grind until you're too burned out to do the things you actually want to do. Whether you realize it today or not, you deserve peace. I have many tools in my toolbox to support you, but to me the most important thing I can do is to provide you a safe space to explore your experience in its entirety at your own pace - to build a connection that is strong enough for you to know that I won't judge you or make you bad or wrong for how you are feeling or for using certain behaviors to cope. It's what you've known to do up to this point, so let's put our heads together and find the ways that this has made sense so we can look at it from a place of compassion instead of judgment. This is a shame-free space! I hold a special place in my heart for those who are working towards eating disorder recovery who feel like they aren't sick enough because their body size, race, sexuality, or gender identity don't match what they are seeing on social media under the eating disorder hashtags. All identities are welcome here, and no matter what your circumstances, your concerns are valid, you ARE sick enough, and you deserve compassionate, equitable care. If anything I've said here makes you think "I like her vibe," please don't hesitate to reach out. I would love to chat further about what it would look like for us to work together.
You are enough. Creating or adjusting relationships can be based on authentic self-expression, free from fear of negative judgment. Support offered addresses assertiveness/conflict resolution skills, college student adjustment to adulthood, major life or career decisions, self-esteem, mood irritability, and unresolved childhood trauma. You can expect a welcoming atmosphere to address these and similar concerns, and feedback to develop coping skills and identify resources to progress in your stated mental health goals. I work with adults online individually and in person for groups. I specialize in the use of EMDR, Somatic Psychotherapy, DBT, CBT, and or Solution Focused Brief Therapy for the unique needs of each client to address posttraumatic stress, life transitions, relationship issues, and anxiety symptoms that interfere with completing responsibilities or interests. You’ve made it this far in reaching out for support. My hope for you is to experience the lasting changes you desire in life. Let’s journey together in your next steps to be well. Sometimes this world is not the easiest place to live as we do not have control over every circumstance. We do, however, have control over how we respond to life situations we encounter. As humans, controlling our behaviors, our thoughts, our feelings can be a struggle at times. Therapy is a safe place to process, to learn, to grow so that we can react more effectively to life circumstances and to gain more control. College students are about adjusting into adulthood, finding independence, and developing a sense of self and directions. This is the time to utilize therapy to assist in the development of who you want to become. Trauma, mood disorders, relationship problems, anxiety, are many areas that college students suffer from due to past experiences or experiences encountered in college. Take the time to resolve and manage your mental health so that you can be the best version of you!

If you are the person, everyone turns to, who do YOU turn to? You give everything to everyone else but never have time for you. It gets tiring always being the ''strong'' one. I see you. You might be struggling to get through the day or question yourself and your worth. This can look like anxiety, depression, problems recovering from a traumatic experience as an adult or as a child. I want to help you know what you DESERVE. Find the life you want and be more in control of your thoughts, emotions, and choices. Let's look inward and do this difficult but deeply important and rewarding work together. Currently, I can see clients who reside in Pennsylvania, California and North Carolina.
College is hard! I remember how hard it was in so many ways. I'm honored to be a support to you through this important time in your life. I specialize in anxiety. I also work on post-trauma growth for those with a history of trauma. My approach is both "bottom up" (focusing on how your body/biology is responding to stress) and "top down" (working with your thoughts and mind to better manage the way you are feeling/thinking). I am heavily influenced by my studies in mindfulness meditation and bring that approach into our work. I have a strong interest in neuroscience as well as spirituality. I like to say that my goal as a helper is not to “make you better” but to help you discover that which makes you feel more alive. Your true nature is one of wholeness, contentment, and compassion; let's get you back there.
