I work with clients who are dealing with challenges related to life change and transition, self identity and growth, anxiety and stress. I am passionate about helping people discover their ability to find fulfillment while coping with pain and navigating struggle.
I predominantly work with members of the LGBTQ+ community. Transgender/Gender Specialist (Certified Member of World Professional Association for Transgender Health). Letters provided for transition needs. I provide affirmation and exploration to facilitate authenticity while taking into account your values and goals within the framework of your life. I work with family members to facilitate peace and workability in line with this authenticity. Clinical mental health difficulties such as depression, anxiety, mood dysregulation, attention deficit, etc. are also addressed.
The college experience can be both amazing and stressful. Sometimes you might need someone to talk to, someone who won’t judge you or take away your independence. If you are looking for a new perspective on old challenges or a helping hand with new struggles, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
I believe everyone deserves a space to process, heal, and experience empathy and validation. Good outcomes in therapy can be expected if you feel the therapist genuinely cares and has your best interest in heart and mind. Your therapist must also have skill, knowledge, and experience with clinically proven therapy techniques. I provide both to you as my client. I offer an integrated approach that includes EMDR, person-centered, CBT, DBT skills, and trauma focused treatment; however, our time together is not limited to these theories of practice. Together, we can explore the barriers that are keeping you from living the life you want.
Have you come to the point in your life where you desire to see change? We can help! It takes a lot of strength and courage to seek psychological assistance. Expressing your personal challenges in a supportive and non-judgmental space is quite powerful, and different from confiding in family or friends. We will assist you in your journey toward change, providing you with the opportunity to be heard, supported, and encouraged to discover your own personal strength. Our therapists meet a wide array of therapeutic needs. With over 20 years of combined experience, we will guide you through the counseling process, assisting you in gaining insight into the patterns and habits that are negatively impacting your growth and peace of mind. We implement an eclectic approach that includes CBT, TF-CBT, Reality Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. We have worked with children, teenagers, and adults during our careers in various settings on a wide range of issues. Each clinician here tailors their approach to the individual needs of each client. The time for change has come… take the first step today!
I deeply value the therapeutic relationship and strive to help clients better understand themselves. By creating safety and comfort within our relationship, we can more deeply explore familial, platonic and romantic relationships while also exploring clients' identities and feelings of worth.
We are a collaborative of skilled, holistically oriented experienced mental health professionals offering a variety of high quality psychotherapy services in the High Country area. Our center was founded in 2003.
At True Oak Counseling, PLLC, I strive to bring the best methods tailored to each individual for the quickest resolution on problems. I work with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy.
If you’ve landed here you are probably seeking connection, and hope to find the right professional to support you. Something has gotten in the way, or you’ve lost your way to a life that is rich and meaningful. It may be about fractured relationship, debilitating emotional struggles, over-reliance on a substance, the grip of social media, the persistence of trauma, or elusive life balance. Or you may wish to deepen progress you’ve already made in making a life worth living. I offer the wisdom and skills that come from over 30 years working in mental health. My 20+ years as a licensed therapist have included direct work with people of all ages and in all combinations, often as I also served in leadership positions in residential programs. My primary approach is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), including ACT for Trauma. Depending on what is useful, I weave elements of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. The work I do is informed by Buddhist Psychology, and often includes guidance in the use of specific meditation techniques to bring clarity and growth. My own life has been enriched by my experience as a person in long-term recovery, my dedicated mindfulness/meditation practice, and my immersion in the outdoors wherever my travels take me.
Many of the students I work best with share a common thread: they feel overwhelmed by the transition of college life and want a safe place to sort through it all. Some are managing anxiety, stress, or burnout from balancing classes, work, and relationships. Others are navigating questions of identity, independence, or self-confidence. What they all have in common is a desire for a supportive space where they can be honest about what’s hard and learn tools to feel more grounded. My approach is down-to-earth and collaborative, so if you’re looking for someone who understands the challenges of student life and wants to walk with you through them, you might find a good fit here.
I practice with science-supported strategies to help people reduce stress, make health behavior changes (e.g., eat healthier), and adjust to illness or injury. I also work extensively with individuals who experience anxiety, depression, body image concerns, and disordered eating. I am trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and positive psychology interventions. I conduct teletherapy and am licensed for residents in North Carolina and all the states in PSYPACT (https://psypact.site-ym.com/page/psypactmap) . Teletherapy has been found to be comparably effective to in-person therapy. It also offers greater flexibility, accessibility, and privacy. I'd be happy to work with you!
Lime Counseling is passionate about providing an accepting, welcoming, and supportive space for you to be able to talk through whatever stressor is troubling you at this time. Immediate telehealth evening appts. You're tired. You have to carry BIG emotions all the damn time with no outlet to let them out. You may cry when you’re alone, but put on a smile so the world can’t see you're hurting on the inside. There is no time to slow down because slowing down makes the inner critic grow louder about how awful you are. Perhaps you get some release through eating or other coping methods, but ultimately, that voice comes right back again. The inner critic makes it hard for you to accept yourself and love your flaws. It makes it hard for you to live your life intentionally, with confidence in yourself to use your voice. Everyone deserves to live a life they're excited to wake up to. Therapy helps with this. It allows you to show up and be your authentic self while healing that inner critic who causes trauma and shame. You don't have to save face. The journey may be tough. However, taking a step allows you to get closer to the resiliency you seek and break the cycle. If anything above resonates with you, I see you. I look forward to helping you become the best version of yourself. All you have to do is show up and I'll walk the beaten path with you. Just call or schedule at (www.ashleyhoseycounseling.com). I'm an OON provider but ask about superbills and other payment options.
Can you remember who you were, before the world told you who you should be? We live in a society that tells us who to be. We are taught how to behave, how to dress, how to speak, how to interact with the world… We are often raised in families plagued by generational traumas and toxicity, or simply behavioral patterns that do not support our individual needs and wants. I see you and I hear you. I want you to know that I understand what it feels like to question your identity or to push through societal expectations that no longer serve us. I will provide you with a safe and sacred space to explore who you truly are and wish to be.
Hey there! Congrats on taking this step in your healing journey. You are always worth the investment! Maybe you just started college and this is your first time away from home and you’re kind of freaking out. Or maybe you’ve been at this for a while but the stress is building up and you don’t feel like yourself. Perhaps that person you’re dating is causing you stress and you’re trying to figure out if it’s worth staying with them. Whatever challenges may be thrown your way, I am here to support you and help you on your healing journey. College is crazy stressful, life is hard, and sometimes things just are downright challenging. Good news is you don’t have to do this alone. I am here and ready to support you however is best.
