Hi there. College can be a challenging time and reaching out for help is a great first step. I have been working with young adults for over 20 years and together we can find real strategies for you no matter what you are struggling with. I look forward to helping you address the difficulties you may be facing as you navigate relationships, career choices and finding your own voice.
I thought about listing all my education, training and clinical experience here but I don’t think that’s what you are truly interested in. I believe you want to know whether I would be a good person to work with, whether I can really understand what you are going through, whether you will feel safe talking to me, whether I know what I am doing, whether I am the right match for what you are seeking in therapy. All of those questions and concerns are absolutely valid and I know I was asking myself the same things before I started my own therapy many years ago. So maybe I will tell you a little bit about what it may be like working with me. I am a very active therapist who will get in the weeds with you. I will want to get to know you – who you are as a person, what is going really well in your life, what is missing, what you feel you would like to explore more or change, what your goals and dreams are and the obstacles that have prevented you from creating the kind of fulfilling life you deserve. I use humor often and we laugh a lot in my sessions. I aim to be authentic and honest while creating a warm and non-judgmental space for us to work in. I will be invested in your success and transformation – I get tremendous joy out of supporting my clients through their process of self-discovery and change. I will also challenge you to look at things that may make you feel uncomfortable and hold you accountable to achieving the goals we set up together. My specialties include anxiety, adjusting to college and stress related to academics or relationships, perfectionism, eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, binge-eating disorder) and disordered eating (including emotional eating, chronic dieting, excessive exercise, body image issues, binge eating, etc.). I want you to know that I am passionate about what I do and believe that therapy can truly be a transformative experience. Please reach out for a free 15-minute consultation to see if we are a good fit. I am excited to get to know you and work together to create lasting change in your life.

I work with adults and teens experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and trauma. Therapy is a space where you can develop insight into how you became the person you are, while learning to have more compassion for yourself. You can explore how to cope with life's challenges in a way that feels healthy and practical. So many of us are carrying heavy emotional burdens which impact how we show up in the world, for our families, and for ourselves. We often feel alone with our feelings, stuck in a place of shame, unsure of how to heal and move forward. I believe we are greatly influenced by our early experiences with our families and caregivers. How did those experiences mold you into who you are, and how might they be holding you back? Changing your relationship with yourself is integral to living the life you want. My work also includes helping clients to look at how their thoughts impact mood and behavior. I enjoy integrating mindfulness practices and other strategies so that clients gain practical strategies to deal with the inevitable challenges we all face. Let's move from a place of self-blame to a place of acceptance and healing. Please reach out today.

Many of the people I work with have complicated histories and families. They have struggled with relationships and symptoms of one kind or another and come to therapy to share their experiences, often for the very first time. I received my MSW at Columbia University and a Post Masters Certificate in Individual Therapy at Hunter College School of Social Work. I completed my psychoanalytic training at The Center for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis of New Jersey; I serve on the Board of Directors and Training Committee as Dean of Students and I teach and supervise psychotherapists. My approach to therapy utilizes Contemporary Psychoanalysis, Attachment Theory, Trauma Theory, Emotionally Focused Theory (EFT), and EMDR.

My practice is grounded in evidence-based, trauma-informed therapies, with an emphasis on EMDR, DBT, and CBT techniques. As a trauma healing therapist, I help clients heal from shame, fear, and confusion to develop a better relationship with themselves and with others. Growing up can be challenging for adolescents- both in regards to mental health and in their relationships with peers. While mental health has become more prominent, there is often a hesitation that arises when it comes to discussing it. I offer a space, separate from their daily life and relationships, where adolescents can speak and feel heard by someone uninvolved and unbiased, but invested in being present and supportive of the adolescent. Adolescents are facing new obstacles both socially and within themselves, and while opening up can be hard, it is so important to do.

My story starts with losing a delivery job with UPS in my early 20s because I ran over two cones during training. I needed a new direction and found my passion for helping people. I am grateful I ran over those two cones because it changed my career. Now, I have 15 years of experience as a licensed mental health professional and started Cuda Counseling (CC), where I work with an amazing team. We help individuals succeed by dialing down their inner critic and creating an inner ally. I understand that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation of effective counseling. That's why I strive to create a warm and welcoming environment where you can freely discuss your challenges and wins. My action-oriented approach is designed to help you identify achievable measures of success, empowering you to realize your full potential. Don't hesitate to reach out if you're ready to experience inner freedom by identifying and overcoming challenging thoughts, behaviors, and emotions.
