I come to the practice of counseling after many years working in student services in a university setting. I find (as the research continues to show) that the most important element of effective counseling is the connection between client and counselor—we will work collaboratively. I draw on many approaches including but not limited to client-centered, mindfulness, existential therapy, attachment theory, Buddhist psychology, solution-focused, trauma-informed, grief work, and internal parts work. I am in network with Aetna insurance and UHC/Optum and I also take direct pay (sliding scale is $170 to $120). I am seeing clients mostly through a HIPAA compliant video platform. Currently (Spring 2026), I do have a small number of openings for new clients. I am licensed to practice in New York, Connecticut, Maine, New Mexico, and registered for on line counseling in Florida and South Carolina.
I am a clinical psychologist and licensed as a practicing psychologist in New York (016741) and New Jersey (35SI00449700) and I am credentialed by the National Register of Health Service Psychologists. I am Level 3 certified in TEAM CBT and received specialized training in cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, trauma-informed treatments and have an advanced certificate in perinatal mental health. I have been named 2020, 2021 New Jersey's Favorite Kids' Doc and 2020, 2021, 2022 Top Doctor by NJTopDocs. I earned my MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University and completed my undergraduate degree summa cum laude at New York University. I am currently the co-owner of the Good Life Center for Mental Health. Previously, I was the Director of the Center for Psychological Services, overseeing 10 doctoral training clinics, at the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology at Rutgers University. I was also Co-Director of the New Jersey Coordination Center for Child Abuse and Neglect Forensic Evaluation and Treatment. Prior to that, I served as a Supervising Psychologist at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, where I developed a model for treating trauma. I have experience developing, conducting, supervising, and researching evidence-based psychotherapeutic programs for children, adolescents, and adults. Over the course of my career, I have given over 50 professional presentations and workshops, published numerous theoretical and empirical manuscripts and I co-authored a book entitled “Game-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Child Sexual Abuse: An Innovative Approach.” I served on the Practice Guidelines Committee of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children and was an editorial board member for the Journal of Child Sexual Abuse and reviewer for Psychological Trauma: Theory, Research, Practice, and Policy. I have expertise in the assessment and treatment of trauma, anxiety, mood problems, behavioral difficulties, and interpersonal problems. You can be surrounded by people and still feel completely alone. Maybe you grew up keeping the peace, managing everyone else's emotions, or shrinking yourself to avoid conflict, and now those same patterns are running your life. You overthink, you people-please, you second-guess yourself constantly. You are self-aware enough to know something is not working, and awareness alone has not changed it. These patterns have roots. Family wounds, early trauma, relationships that taught you it was not safe to be yourself. Insight goes a long way toward naming them and stops short of loosening them, which is not a failure of effort on your part. I use Accelerated Resolution Therapy, an eye movement therapy that works on the physical charge attached to a memory rather than the story about it. You do not have to describe what happened out loud. Most people notice a shift within one to five sessions, and I offer ART both in weekly therapy and as a single longer intensive session for students who want to resolve something specific without a semester-long commitment. I am also trained in EMDR and use a person-centered, strengths-based approach throughout. If you are ready to stop going through the motions and find out who you are when you are not managing everyone else, I would like to hear from you.

Hello! I am a licensed clinical psychologist with 10 years of experience in hospitals, therapy clinics, and academic research settings. l work with adolescents and young adults facing a range of challenges, including more serious mental health concerns. My practice focuses on treating individuals with depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, OCD, and psychotic disorders like schizophrenia. My style is warm and client-centered, with a strong emphasis on building a trusting therapeutic relationship. You will always be met with acceptance, support, and a space free of shame and judgment. My goal is to arm you with knowledge and tools so that you develop confidence to better manage difficulties in your life. I aim to provide you with clear information related to symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment options. I have expertise in evidence-based treatments, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). I often bring worksheets and treatment manuals into the session, and use assessments to learn more about you and track progress. If you're unsure of what to expect from therapy, I will be there to guide you. In our initial sessions, we'll work toward gaining a good understanding of your difficulties and goals, and develop a treatment plan together. Sometimes we may even complete a clinical and diagnostic evaluation, where I will review the results with you and provide tailored treatment recommendations. If you’re looking for an experienced psychologist who values collaboration and providing you with structured tools, I’d love to hear from you! I offer free 15-minute consultations if you'd like to meet first to see if we'd be a good fit.
If you've been feeling overwhelmed, stuck in patterns that aren't serving you, or disconnected from yourself or the people around you, you're not alone. Many of the patients I work with are searching for relief, clarity, and a greater sense of control. They want to feel more confident in their decisions, more at peace in their bodies and minds, and better equipped to handle daily stressors without becoming emotionally flooded. Some are also looking to rebuild self-trust and develop a healthier relationship with food, their body, and the people in their lives. As a Mental Health Counselor-Limited Permit (MHC-LP), my work centers on helping adolescents and young adults navigate anxiety, depression, OCD, disordered eating, and the challenges that come with major life transitions. That said, people at all stages of life are welcome here. My goal is to support you in creating lasting, meaningful change by helping you understand your patterns, build practical coping tools, and move toward a life that feels more stable and aligned with your values. Compassionate, authentic, and collaborative care is at the heart of everything I do. Creating a space where you feel genuinely supported and understood isn't just a goal; it's a commitment I bring to every session. We'll work together in an environment that is grounded and nonjudgmental, drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and integrative, person-centered approaches to help you reduce anxiety, manage OCD patterns, and reconnect with a greater sense of balance in both mind and body. I'm especially passionate about the connection between mental and physical well-being, and supporting you in finding more freedom from anxious thinking, compulsive patterns, and self-criticism. Every aspect of our work is tailored to your unique needs, experiences, and goals, because there's no single path forward that works for everyone. My path to becoming a therapist began in pediatric oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering, where I supported children and families through cancer treatment. This experience shaped my passion for providing compassionate, steady care in moments of distress. I later worked in a school setting providing crisis intervention for children and young adults with complex emotional and behavioral needs. Over the past two years, I have worked in eating disorder treatment, supporting adolescents and young adults in building a more supportive relationship with food, body image, and emotional wellbeing. I also have experience providing trauma-focused care, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), to support clients in processing and healing from traumatic experiences. These experiences inform my trauma-informed, collaborative approach to care. I aim to help clients feel grounded, understood, and supported as they work toward meaningful change. When I'm not in session, I'm usually moving my body for enjoyment, catching a movie, or exploring a new coffee spot. Music is a big part of my life, whether that's listening at home or going to live concerts. Traveling, discovering new places, spending time with family and friends, and relaxing at the beach are some of my favorite ways to recharge.
Therapy provides a space for you to process difficult feelings and situations. As a therapist, I help patients explore new ways of engaging with the world and with themselves. My goal is for patients to translate insights and skills into noticeable changes in their lives. My style balances pragmatism, humor, compassion, and curiosity. I treat a range of concerns, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, alcohol/substance use, relationship concerns, and life transitions. I draw on a range of theoretical approaches, emphasizing rootedness in the present moment and interpersonal connection.
We may have all asked ourselves at one time or another..."How did I (or we) get here?" During these times, talking to someone who understands helps. I have helped many college students/young adults with adjusting to college life, academic stressors and relationship difficulties. I am skilled in helping students manage anxiety and depression. I believe that understanding you and the reasons you are seeking counseling as essential to our work together. We will employ practical strategies you can utilize outside of the office. Students will often ask me, "what is my homework?" It will feel empowering to work on your goals both in and outside of therapy.
