Therapists for college students near New York, NY
As a clinical psychologist, I specialize in work with depression, difficulties relating to trauma and anxiety, and with gender identity and sexuality. My goal is to help you to feel less suffering and to experience a more fulfilling life. A good experience in therapy involves both psychologist and patient. Together, we'll focus on the impacts of low mood, anxiety, low self esteem, or whatever is getting in the way of your lifeāand how to help you to overcome these obstacles. I have experience working with adolescents and adults who are struggling with a variety of concerns, as well as with those who are GNC or queer. In my clinical work, I use evidence-based practices for conditions such as major depressive disorder, social anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), or posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In my academic role at Bard College, I study and teach on the impacts of mood disorders, trauma, and depressive thought. (I do not usually see current Bard College students.)
My main focus are patients with trauma history and those currently suffering with anxiety and/or depression. I also work with those who are experiencing significant life changes, and those who are exploring their identity, values, and meaning of life.
I'm a licensed clinical social worker with a virtual practice in NY and GA. I offer psychotherapy for adults navigating life transitions and struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, perfectionism, and shame. I also specialize in helping people make peace with their bodies and heal their relationships with food and exercise. I see therapy as a deeply rewarding experience where you can cultivate self compassion, self acceptance, and flexibility. We'll create a safe space where you can process distressing feelings or challenges, grow in self understanding, build and practice new ways of coping, and move towards living a full life that's in line with your true values. My integrative approach as a therapist means I'll always be responsive to your reasons for being in therapy and what you want to find. I have an open, exploratory style, but I also won't hesitate to share more concrete resources or suggest practices to test out in between sessions if we decide together it might help.
As a therapist, my goal is to build a trusting relationship with clients to empower them to achieve positive change in their lives and reach their therapeutic goals. I aim to provide a safe and judgement free environment to help clients explore their vulnerabilities and build confidence. I take a multidisciplinary approach to therapy to tailor to the needs of the client but my foundation is CBT. I have extensive training in motivational interviewing and positive psychology that I utilize during the process. I specialize working with anxiety, depression, trauma, military veterans, grief and loss, life transitions and life planning. You are the expert of your own life. I stride on building a safe and trusting environment to empower clients to take back control of their lives and feel confident doing so.

I specialize in sleep difficulties, anxiety, nightmares, and trauma. I have a passion for helping people achieve their mental health goals and regain the energy and focus they need to achieve their goals and ambitions. I have seen evidence-based practices for insomnia, nightmares and trauma begin to alleviate debilitating symptoms in a very short amount of time. Whether you have been suffering for 3 months or 3 decades, I have witnessed people recover and regain a quality of their lives they thought was lost. Since recovery can be abrupt and dramatic for some, I also address adjustment to your sense of identity and grief associated with the many losses these struggles have caused. My style is interactive and direct, and I am passionate about helping clients work through areas where they feel stuck and hopeless. I understand how sleep issues, trauma, depression, anxiety, and interpersonal conflicts can make every day a struggle. One of my greatest joys is witnessing a client regain hope and recognize the ripple effect the one small change they made will have on their lives. We will work together to discover your strengths, learn new skills, and use them to create positive, lasting change.

I work with people feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or ready for changeāpeople who want to feel confident, connected, and in control of their lives. Many of my clients are seeking support for depression, anxiety, eating disorders, body image concerns, relationship challenges, or low self-esteem. My goal is to help you move toward a healthier, fulfilling version of yourself. Many of my patients are readers. When desired, I suggest novels that offer insight, perspectives, or emotional connections to themes weāre exploring in therapy. This creates a meaningful and creative pathway to growth. Curious? Follow The Character's Toolkit on IG Therapy with me is a collaborative process. Weāll start by identifying your strengths and any patternsāwhether in thinking, behavior, or relationshipsāthat may be holding you back. From there, weāll use evidence-based strategies to build healthier, more sustainable ways of coping and engaging with life. At the heart of psychotherapy is accompaniment through oneās inner world. Current difficulties, past struggles, individual and familial traumas, hidden hopes and dreams ā all of this will be central to making sense of your present and building toward your future. Starting psychotherapy can feel intimidating, but the benefits can be huge: deeper self-understanding, more meaningful and authentic relationships, reduced depression and anxiety, increased self-confidence. I have worked with a diverse swath of undergrad and graduate students in college counseling centers, and have studied and taught at private and public universities across the country. My specializations include relationship struggles, family conflict and crisis, identity development, career direction, academic concerns, gender and sexuality, trauma, spirituality, creativity, chronic illness, immigration, and LGBTQIA+ issues in teens and adults. I am committed to meeting you where you are at in the therapeutic process, and I welcome exploration of racial, sexual, and gender identities.
