Kimberly Carlin
Hi! I’m Kimberly Carlin, LPC, and I work with women over 18 who want support navigating the ups and downs of life. Between work, relationships, family responsibilities, and personal growth, it’s normal to feel stressed, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to cope. I help women work through: * Anxiety, stress, and burnout * Relationship challenges and setting boundaries * Trauma or emotional abuse * Grief or major life transitions * Body image and disordered eating * Pressure to be “perfect” or meet high expectations * Life transitions such as parenting, career changes, or caregiving responsibilities Here’s what therapy with me looks like: CBT: Helps you spot unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier ones. ACT: Teaches you to accept feelings and focus on what matters most. Somatic Therapy: Uses your body to release stored stress, tension, and anxiety. IFS (Internal Family Systems): Helps you explore different parts of yourself and understand conflicting thoughts, emotions, or behaviors. Inner Child Work: Helps you understand how past experiences shape your feelings today. EMDR: A specialized approach that helps painful memories feel less overwhelming. Christian Counseling and Prayer (optional): For women who desire, therapy can integrate Biblical principles, prayer, and exploring God’s perspective of who you are to guide healing, self-worth, and decision-making. I provide online therapy and am licensed in multiple states, so you can continue care even if you travel, work remotely or move. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel understood, gain clarity, and build tools to navigate life with more confidence, self-compassion, and faith-based guidance if desired. Whether you’re feeling stressed, struggling with relationships, wanting to process trauma, or navigating major life transitions, I’m here to support you. I offer a modern, relational approach to therapy designed for how people actually live today. As a licensed clinical social worker, EMDR-Certified therapist, and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor, I provide fully virtual therapy with flexible video and text-based support beyond the traditional session. My style is unconventional and integrative, grounded in meaningful connection. Together, we explore your inner world, understand patterns, and build a more grounded sense of self. This is your space—collaborative, flexible, and tailored to you. I integrate trauma-informed, relational, and somatic approaches to support identity, relationships, life transitions, and substance use. I’ve worked with individuals across diverse cultures, identities, and backgrounds. Therapy is available in English and Spanish. Licensed in FL, PA, and VT. Reach out to get started. In addition to clinical work, I collaborate with organizations and lead nature-based digital detox retreats in Northern Colombia’s Sierra Nevada. These immersive experiences integrate therapeutic insight, nervous system regulation, and relational work to foster meaningful connection and lasting change. I also develop CEU-approved educational content.

I have specialized in working with college and university undergraduate and graduate students since my graduate training and I have worked in six different college and university counseling centers. I have innate knowledge about the experiences that are relevant to college and undergraduate students and it is my mission to provide support in helping navigate the journey during this integral time of development. I have experience supporting students through general academic stress and concerns as well as compounding stressors relevant to diversity, culture and identity. Finally, I understand the intersection that other factors have during the college and university experience (i.e., family, friend and romantic relationship building and conflict, social injustice, financial stress, career uncertainty, etc.)

My passion for this work stems from my own struggles with mental health throughout my life. I know firsthand how important it is to have the proper support. I identify with the LGBTQIA+, kink/BDSM, and poly/ENM communities, so I am familiar with the unique issues facing these marginalized communities, and also the struggle to find a safe space to express your unique self when seeking help. Whether the issues you are seeking therapy for are directly related to your identity or not, you can freely be yourself in our sessions and let your guard down. You will not have to expend the emotional labor to educate me about your identity(ies). I provide a safe space, while clarifying your goals and desired outcome for therapy. I tailor my approach to your unique needs. However you identify, I will meet you where you are at on your personal journey, and together we can work to figure out how you can live your most authentic life. Change does not happen overnight. It requires time, patience, and a willingness to be vulnerable. If you are ready to take the first step today, I would love to hear from you so we can get started! A dandelion will remain closed if there is a storm on the horizon, but once the storm has passed it will open up its beautiful, vulnerable self to the world. Only with safety is healing possible. In the same way, humans stay closed up tight if the environment isn’t safe. We know the importance of a safe, supportive environment and strive to provide that to each client. For counseling in Pennsylvania, whether in-person or online, we are here to walk beside you, hear your experience, provide guidance, and help you find the life you’ve so desired. The art of therapy is a process with which it can take time to become familiar. Psychotherapy is most effective when the therapist and the client are able to build trust with each other. The trust established between the client and the therapist allows for openness, honesty, and vulnerability in the session. As you progress through therapy, you may experience difficult emotions such as anger, hurt, disappointment, or pain. These emotions are natural to the healing process and it is my role to help care for you when you do experience these emotions. Practicing primarily from a Psychodynamic frame with a strong emphasis on attachment, I incorporate Schema, Cognitive-Behavioral, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and other Process-Experiential approaches and techniques based on the needs of the client(s). Although I work with a variety of issues, my primary clinical focus is trauma, emotional abuse, affairs and betrayal traumas, existential crisis and restoration/deepening of the relationship one has with him/her/their self. Simply, I am interested in helping individuals and couples restore their sense of safety, re-establish their sense of self, re-discover their place in relationships and the world, and find meaning in life. Populations with whom I am particularly familiar and enjoy working with are: Young Adults, Artists and Creatives, and the LGBTQ Community. I help individuals, couples and groups work through relationship and life-stage concerns, issues pertaining to sexuality and gender identity, and questions and concerns around faith and spirituality.

If you haven’t heard this yet, you aren’t too much or too complicated. You can be helped and it is not too late. You do not have to do this alone. I want to be on this journey with you. Whether we explore your addiction or relationship with substances, put the pieces together again after a life transition or relationship ending, or navigate challenges including family conflict/estrangement or a loved ones addiction, I am here to support and help. I'm a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) specializing in addiction and substance use. With over 13 years experience, I have seen and heard it all. Addiction comes with many complications; I anticipate that. I treat co-occurring issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic medical issues, women's issues, and complex family dynamics. It's ok to not know where to start. My goal is to give you a space where you can feel free to explore the things you keep tucked inside. You set our pace. I am client-centered using CBT with motivational interviewing and experiential work. I believe that there are connections between past and present thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
