Hi, I'm Lori with Starfish Counseling for Grief and Loss. When a loss occurs, whether it's a death, a relationship break-up, or some other type of loss, going through the grief process can be tricky while you're also handling other responsibilities, like school and friends. You may not be able to juggle it all, so you try to get help but you don't know who to go to. Maybe you've tried going to your school's counseling center, only to be told you have to wait several weeks or even months to be seen. What do you do in the meantime? As I see it, you have two choices - try to live with your grief without help and move forward or talk to someone to figure out what your life can be like after loss. In my experience, moving forward is much easier to achieve when you've talked to someone who has the tools and knowledge to help you process your grief. I am that someone. Because I've had a lot of loss and I've worked for nearly 20 years with people who've had loss, trauma and grief, I have the experience and the know-how to help. I take a client-centered approach, so I never use a one-size-fits-all strategy. Instead, I lean on cognitive, somatic and creative approaches to guide and offer support. I'd be honored to work with you.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I’ve had the opportunity to work with adults from many different backgrounds and stages of life. I support individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, grief, ADHD, relationship concerns, life transitions, LGBTQIA+ concerns, and other mental health challenges. I believe you are so much more than a diagnosis or a difficult chapter in your life. My goal is to create a space where you can show up as yourself, feel heard, and talk openly without judgment. Clients often describe me as genuine, approachable, and direct. I bring curiosity, compassion, and honesty into our work together, while offering practical support to help you better understand yourself and navigate whatever life is bringing your way.
I am currently scheduling patients for both in-person (PA/NJ) and telehealth (PA/NJ/MA) appointments. I welcome patients who are looking for medication management, therapy, a second opinion, or any combination of the above. My interests include diagnostic clarification of mood/anxiety/attention disorders, evaluation of young adults who may be seeking help for the first time, and treatment of substance use disorders that often present with other common diagnoses. I offer comprehensive treatment, taking into consideration not only whether a patient has a medical illness, but also discussing lifestyle, substance use, relationships and other factors that could be affecting an individual's mental health. When indicated, I may recommend the use of psychiatric medications in conjunction with therapy.

Whether you're navigating relationship challenges, major life transitions, trauma, anxiety, or depression, I’m glad you’re here seeking support. Rather than focusing on happiness as a fixed goal, I help clients explore what fulfillment means in the context of their lives. Fulfillment allows space for the full range of emotional experiences supports a more honest, grounded way of engaging with yourself and the world. ClinicalApproach I bring a systems-oriented lens to our work together, considering how our early relationships and life experiences shape our current sense of self, the way we connect with others, and how we move through the world. My integrative approach draws from several evidence-based modalities including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) But above all, I'm client-centered. I've seen what happens when therapy gets too rigid or robotic, when the humanity of it gets lost. That’s not what you’ll get with me. I’ll use evidence-based methods and also meet you with honesty, care, and a good sense of when to push and when to pause.
College can be an exciting time, but it can also feel overwhelming. You may be juggling academic pressure, relationships, identity questions, family expectations, or uncertainty about the future. Maybe you notice patterns in your relationships that don’t feel good, feel stuck in anxiety or low mood, or are struggling to cope with stress, loss, or change. If you’re looking for support, insight, and practical tools to help you feel more grounded and connected, therapy can be a meaningful place to start. I approach therapy as a collaborative and supportive process, creating a space that is accepting, compassionate, and non-judgmental. Together, we’ll work to help you better understand your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, while developing skills to navigate challenges more effectively. As you build awareness and learn to relate to yourself with greater kindness and presence, you may feel more confident handling stress, setting boundaries, and making choices that align with your values. I work with college students, adolescents, and adults. My primary approach, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), is especially helpful for managing anxiety, depression, academic stress, and relationship concerns. I also have experience working with trauma, addiction, and gambling-related issues. My goal is to support you in developing resilience, strengthening your sense of identity, and creating a college experience—and life beyond campus—that feels more balanced, meaningful, and authentic.

At times, people just want to have a conversation and we put off going to counseling, because honestly we tell ourselves that this other thing is just a little bit more important, a bit more pressing. We forget to invest in ourselves. Life is tough, there is no doubt about that; but why go through it alone. Let me be that person for you to aid you through those tough times or I can simply be that someone that you talk with. For a free consultation, learn more about my practice, or set up a counseling appointment, please go to www.thelotuscounselor.com or call (610) 699-9475. I specialize in having conversations and I have experience with: grief, stress management, trauma, depression, anxiety, career counseling, adults and youth and more. Many of the students I work with are navigating a lot internally—stress, anxiety, self-doubt, or feeling unsure about their path. You might find yourself overthinking, putting pressure on yourself to have everything figured out, or struggling in relationships while trying to balance it all. You may look like you’re doing fine on the outside, but feel overwhelmed or stuck underneath. You don’t have to have everything figured out. If you’re open to growing, gaining clarity, and building a stronger relationship with yourself, we’d likely work well together.
Have you not been feeling yourself lately? Have you been feeling overwhelmed? It really does help to talk to someone! Art Therapy techniques along with traditional talk-therapy can help you to reconnect with what lights you up, find new outlets for managing stress, and make sense of what you’re going through. As a registered and board-certified Art Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor, I have a passion for using a creative approach to help people move towards healing, greater insights, and self-expression. I tailor my therapy to meet your specific needs and strive to provide a warm, positive, and inviting space for healing and creative expression. I am honored to work with and welcome all people regardless of Gender, Faith, Ethnicity, and Orientation. No art experience is needed to benefit from Art Therapy!
College can intensify difficulties with attention, mood, anxiety, relationships, sleep, motivation, and daily routines. I help students sort through multiple concerns, understand what may be contributing to them, and decide what to address first. My approach is warm, practical, and individualized, ranging from concrete problem-solving to deeper emotional work. Humor is also an important part of treatment. As a board-certified psychiatrist with extensive psychotherapy experience, I consider how biology, medical conditions, developmental history, personality, relationships, and daily life interact. This broader perspective guides thoughtful decisions about medication, psychotherapy, mind-body practices, or some combination of these. I provide careful ADHD evaluations that consider developmental history as well as other factors that can affect attention and executive functioning, including anxiety, mood, trauma, sleep, substance use, and life structure. I also work with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis, relationship difficulties, and developmental trauma. When a student already has a therapist, I welcome close collaboration with that therapist. I graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed my psychiatric residency at Thomas Jefferson University. My postgraduate psychotherapy training has included experiential approaches and Attachment-Focused EMDR.
