I especially enjoy working with college-age adults, helping them navigate the unique challenges of young adulthood, from managing stress and anxiety to fostering resilience and personal growth. I am Alexandra Patricia (Tricia) Adams, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor – Associate (LPC-A), supervised by April West, LPC-S. I am located in Grand Prairie, Texas, between Dallas and Ft. Worth, and can work with clients throughout the entire state of Texas. I obtained my Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University. I also hold a Master of Arts degree in English – Technical Writing. I have a Bachelor of Business Administration from Northwood University. I specialize in individual, couples, and group therapy, and practice within several treatment areas. I was born in Dallas and raised in Quitman, located in East Texas. I began my career as a medical assistant and have been an allied health professional for over forty-five years. I spent twenty years of my career as a medical assisting instructor, and another twenty years as the author of Kinn’s: The Administrative Medical Assistant and co-author of Kinn’s: The Medical Assistant. I have authored four editions of both textbooks. This project totaled sixteen texts, including student study workbooks, instructor resource books, test banks, lectures/presentations, and procedure guidelines. I believe that anyone can benefit from the counseling process. It is my hope that my clients will grow through this process and live happier lives. According to the American Psychological Association, mental health therapy can help a person going through a challenging life event or situation, treat mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder, and address symptoms like sadness, guilt, or anger. The process is also helpful when dealing with relationships with family, friends, and coworkers. I work with adults and adolescents, as well as couples and groups. I have found a niche working with first responders experiencing moral injury, generational trauma and estrangement, adoption, abortion, and miscarriage issues, chronic pain, DNA testing matters, grief, loss, and suicide prevention, intimacy issues, legal/offender issues, overcoming church hurt or past abuse, parental alienation, sexual assault/rape, and low self-esteem and self-confidence. I would be honored to work with you as you begin to live your best life. Counseling can help you as you confront long-standing life issues, or specific concerns that need to be addressed. The length of counseling can range from several weeks to several months, depending on the number of issues that will be discussed. Contact me for a complementary consultation and take the step forward to a richer, more rewarding future.

Searching for the right therapist? Don't settle for just help...get top-notch help from an experienced professional! I am excited to explore with you how to reach your goals and start on the path to leading the life that you desire. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas with thirty years in the field. I graduated from Texas State University with a Master of Arts in Community Counseling with a focus in individual counseling and marriage & family therapy. I am also a certified Master Level Practitioner of NLP (the roots of EMDR). I take the privilege of serving clients seriously and strive to provide a safe environment where any issue can be discussed openly focusing on healing, growth, and self-discovery.
I provide meaning-centered counseling for individuals navigating trauma, chronic pain, and long-standing stress. My practice is grounded in the belief that experiences are held not only as memories or thoughts, but also within the nervous system as patterns shaped over time. When appropriate, I integrate body-based tools and insight-oriented approaches, supporting students who may understand their experiences intellectually yet continue to feel trapped in how their body responds. Work is paced, collaborative, and attentive to context, readiness, and lived experience rather than quick symptom fixes. My services are offered through in-person sessions in Frisco, Texas, and via secure telehealth across the state. My private practice is self-pay. For those wanting to use insurance, I also see clients through Legacy Trails Therapy, where select plans are accepted under supervisory billing. This can be discussed during consultation.
My ideal client is someone who has experienced acute mental health challenges, or may be new in their therapeutic journey altogether, and is ready to move toward stability and growth. They may struggle with severe mood disorders, trauma, substance use, or daily life struggles, and feel discouraged by systems which have not met their needs. They want to understand themselves and their challenges better, build skills to improve self-sufficiency, and create a meaningful, prosperous life with sustainable supports in the community. I specialize in trauma-informed, ethical, and client-centered care grounded in inpatient mental health experience. I help clients develop insight, accountability, and practical skills to manage symptoms, strengthen resiliency, and transition successfully into community sustained living while prioritizing safety, dignity, and long-term stabilization. You do not have to navigate your healing journey alone. If you are ready to move forward and build hope for your future, I invite you to take the next step. Together, we can create a supportive, realistic path towards growth, empowerment, and lasting change.

Dr. Gonzales takes a personalized, collaborative approach that thoughtfully integrates medication management with evidence-based therapeutic techniques. He believes every patient deserves a safe space — one built on trust and open communication — because lasting change requires feeling safe and genuinely heard. He specializes in treating anxiety disorders, depression, OCD, PTSD, and ADHD across the lifespan — with a particular focus on the unique challenges facing early career professionals, young adults, college students, transitional aged youth, kids and teens. Whether you're seeking psychiatric care for the first time or you've tried other providers and are looking for a better fit, his goal is always the same: to help you grow, develop coping skills that actually work in real life, and build the kind of emotional foundation that holds. Dr. Gonzales believes that mental health care should be readily accessible — because the easier it is to engage in care, the more likely meaningful progress follows. His practice is primarily telehealth-based, removing barriers like commute time, scheduling conflicts, and the hesitation that can come with walking into an office. He currently sees patients virtually across Illinois, Florida, Wisconsin, and Texas. In-person appointments are also available in Chicago, IL for those who prefer them.
