We are starving to discover the truth, to show the world who we really are, and we need to have our truth held with compassion. We all want to experience being fully seen. We want to feel connected to others. Sadly, many of us don’t often experience being seen in a non-judgmental light. My strength as a therapist is in my capacity to recognize your preciousness and your capacity for wholeness, while helping you to align with your truth. I work with individuals, couples, families, children, adolescents, and groups to heal past wounds and evolve out of patterns of self-sabotage. Throughout our work I will support you in cultivating self-compassion, resilience and empowerment. I focus on the impact of trauma, and a variety of disorders including anxiety, depression, insomnia, personality disorders, eating disorders and chronic pain issues. Within a trusting therapeutic relationship, my clients and I co-create a foundation which allows clients to hone into their intuition, improve their relationships, decrease emotional suffering, and increase their overall joy. I use a mindfulness-body-centered approach, integrating many modalities, cultural responsiveness and evidenced-based research.
Do you have that sinking sensation that you are not in control of your own life? Your decisions are governed by hidden desires, urges, fears, and conditioning - the unconscious. Pick up the torch of awareness and walk, head held high, into the darkness of your unconscious mind!

I believe being a student and learning is an opportunity, and sometimes having a consistent therapist alongside can make the difference and help you get the most out of the opportunity. Being in school is not a singular thing, it’s not just about being the student in class who does assignments and gets the grade. In addition to being a student, there is one’s mental, physical, and emotional health, there are often bills to pay, and often the needs of others to meet. There are many other parts of ourselves and our lives that intersect with and function together with being in school. It can be overwhelming. It can be an adjustment. Transitions are big and important. There are our lives both in and out of school. Students are often also family members, caregivers, working individuals, or living with loss, trauma, depression, stress, or a medical illness. Students also learn differently, including some with accommodations for success. Some students find they need to confront an overwhelming need for perfection, or perhaps one is facing a particular challenge that is important to look at rather than look away. Therapy can be helpful when you are in school. I like to meet a client where they are at and begin by understanding you. I offer my warmth, and capacity to listen and to hold space even when the workable feels unworkable. I offer my experience and knowledge in counseling and in the creative art therapies, and hold value in an inclusive and affirmative lens. I enjoy working with students in higher education, meeting them in the places where school intersects with other parts of self that must be given care and attention, or to look more closely at or develop one’s career journey. I employ both talk therapy and the use of creative, expressive processes such as movement, poetry, art, music, story, and metaphor. The work is collaborative between counselor and client, being open about therapy goals and progress. I place value on your inherent strengths, and believe that we all hold motivation and an innate capacity to heal and be the very best versions of ourselves. My goal is to provide a therapy space where the heart, mind, and body can come together to heal in a neutral, nonjudgmental, whole-person way. You will feel listened to and can come as you are and be accepted. Within this comfortable therapy space, you will have the freedom to be creative with your natural healing process. My intention is for you to experience and benefit from insights and therapy ideas that are tailored specifically to you. You will have the freedom to create the life you most want to live. I bring to therapy many years of professional and life experience. I have had professional experience with, as well as, in some cases, close personal association or life-experience with: addiction issues, codependency, all types of trauma and PTSD, severe mental and physical illness, bipolar disorder, depression, divorce, abusive relationships, legal difficulties, gender expression, sexuality differences, grief, elder issues, and anxiety. Every person is unique and a mystery. I love my job because it is endlessly fascinating and fulfilling to meet each new person as they are, help them explore their lives, and guide them to discover their unique path. I look forward to meeting you!
Hi, I'm Jonathan. I'm a down-to-earth, easygoing guy. Beyond that, I'm also a therapist. I often find myself working well with those hoping to get more out of life, whether that involves building confidence, developing good relationships, creating positive habits, understanding your identities, or adjusting to new life circumstances. I'll listen without judgment to really understand you, but also gently push you to be the best version of yourself. After all, we're here to solve problems and find solutions. While therapy can look a lot of different ways, I've found that transparency, humor, and consistency are a few of the key ingredients. Personally, I have felt how transformative therapy can be (despite my initial skepticism). My hope is to be able to offer that to others too. You can connect with me by phone, email, or my website to schedule a free consultation. Let's see if we're a good fit.
