I have been counseling clients for over 25 years, helping people from all walks of life to overcome barriers to living a healthier and happier life. I have especially enjoyed working with college students who may struggle with increased levels of stress, anxiety or depression or have difficulty feeling comfortable and supported in this new environment. Whether you are struggling with addiction issues, depression, anxiety, anger, sexual identity issues, relationship issues, feeling overwhelmed by life's demands, or seeking a deeper sense of purpose and meaning, we can work together to find solutions. Life can be full of pain and struggle, but it is also full of beauty and inspiration. If you have become overwhelmed by the struggle, let's begin today to lighten your burden. I offer a safe, non-judgmental place for you to share your challenges and deepest needs. I believe you have the ability to succeed and thrive when given the right tools and support. I can help you manage overwhelming emotions more effectively, to recognize and change self-defeating patterns of thinking and behaving and to heal from past traumas. In a world that can be very isolating, we all need a place where we can feel deeply heard and understood. I have such gratitude for the help and support I received along the way in my own therapy to overcome challenges and become the best version of myself. I would love to give you this same gift and would consider it a privilege to share in your journey.

In my over ten years of experience, I have worked with a myriad of conditions. The most common issues that I see are anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, women’s issues, substance abuse, stress, self-esteem, and relationship problems. I am a compassionate, non-judgemental therapist. Typically, I use a mix of cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, and mindfulness based cognitive therapy techniques with clients. I believe that your brain is a muscle, and with enough work you can train your brain. Together we will explore the thoughts and behaviors that keep you feeling trapped. When you work on changing your thoughts and cognitions, your behavior can change. This in turn, can change your life. I strongly believe in continuing education and learning something new each day. Some of the specific areas that I have much expertise, education, and research in are: -Anxiety in college -Wellness and health counseling -Eating Disorders and Athletes -Stress overload in teens and young adults -Women’s Issues I love working with people who are not afraid to be challenged and those who are motivated to make a lasting change in their life. As far as age populations go, I can work with any age, but work best with those aged over 14 years old. I believe that each person has the power to have control in their life. My hope is for you to leave my office feeling inspired and empowered.

I am a licensed clinical social worker and yoga instructor. I take an holistic, integrative approach to mental health treatment assisting my clients in building healthy lifestyles that provide proactive protection, maintenance, and or obtainment of optimal mental health and wellness. A holistic approach means that we will explore how mindful awareness, relationships, meaningful academic/career pursuits, sleep, nutrition, rest and relaxation, environment, conventional and complementary medical care, finances, and spirituality, are impacting your mental health and wellbeing. I assist my clients in getting to the root causes of their inability to make and sustain healthy lifestyle practices. This often includes supporting my clients in identifying core beliefs and societal pressures that influence their unhealthy, limiting, and ineffective behaviors. With this increased awareness, I support my clients in courageously aligning their actions with their personal passions, desires, and values.

Everyone has an idea of what working with a therapist is like. I encourage my clients to enter our therapeutic relationship with an open mind. I want each of my clients to feel comfortable being themselves in our sessions. I emphasize to each of my clients that, while I may be direct, I am not rude, and I treat each of my clients with dignity and respect. While I ask that respect be reciprocated, I want to be clear that I am not easily offended and encourage clients to express themselves in the manner that feels most comfortable to them. I utilize a person-centered approach when working with new clients in an effort to increase their levels of comfort with me and with being in the therapy session. I pride myself on my ability to provide quality and competent therapeutic services in an inviting and relatable manner. I know that seeking mental health treatment for yourself or a loved one can be a harrowing process. I want to commend you for taking the first step in improving your mental wellness.
