It takes great strength and courage to reach out in our times of need. I consider it a privilege to join you on your journey and believe deeply in the healing that is possible within the therapeutic process. Our desire for relationships is beautiful. Within relationship we can experience the fullness of this beauty, but often they are what leave us fractured and fragmented. In counseling, I believe, we can put the pieces of us back together to experience personal wholeness once again. When we begin to experience the fullness within ourselves, we then can encounter the beauty of connection and relationship with others. Deeply valuing the uniqueness of each person, I aim to create a safe, compassionate, and authentic space by integrating the whole person into our work. Primarily working from an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) model, we will seek to reintegrate each disjointed part of us back into the whole, utilizing our mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, and relational parts. My faith is meaningful to me, and I welcome working with people of diverse faith backgrounds and beliefs. Throughout my own journey I have found that sorrow and joy often walk together. In our work together, I desire to hold space for the pain and hurt you have experienced, while also making space for moments of laughter and joy along the way. Within my therapeutic space I seek to create room for the dark and the difficult, as well as recognize the moments we need to take a breath from the heavy, and laugh. I want to follow where you lead. In my free time I love cooking, enjoying the outdoors with my husband, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, playing soccer, coaching athletes of all ages and stages, and laughing with my friends and family!

As a Somatic Therapist and Intuitive Eating Counselor, I blend talk therapy with body-based techniques to help people rediscover their innate wisdom and hunger for life. Instead of getting caught in a spiral of prescriptive “shoulds” as related to eating, exercise, perfectionism, anxiety or depression, my holistic approach allows you to slowly become more aware of your unique bodily rhythms, relational needs, gut instincts and deeper hungers from the inside-out. I love helping people reconnect with their body-mind-spirit from a trauma-informed, depth-oriented, expressive arts, and all-bodies-welcome approach. With a great appreciation for the body’s wisdom, early developmental imprinting and expanding one’s intuition, I draw upon nervous system science, attachment theory and trauma-informed somatic therapy to help clients feel supported and empowered in their bodies and lives. Sometimes we talk, sometimes we move and make art, sometimes we explore developmental shapes or movement patterns, and sometimes we do all three. You set the pace.
I believe that healing begins the moment you feel heard and understood. However, we live in a world where finding someone who can actively listen and attend to our true emotions and thoughts non-judgmentally is hard to come by. I use my authenticity, empathy, and sense of humor in therapy to provide a safe space where you can get to the root of the challenges you may be experiencing. However, I also believe it’s important to provide you with coping skills to equip you in becoming more independent in managing strong emotions on your own. I have training in trauma focused therapies such as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Attachment, Regulation, Competency (ARC), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) quite often to assist in identifying negative beliefs about yourself and the world that are driving the symptoms and behaviors that might bring you to therapy. One of my favorite parts of therapy is when I can assist someone in developing self-compassion and uncovering their inner strengths and potential. I also utilize creative interventions when appropriate through art, sand tray, and music. I have experience in a variety of settings such as employee assistance programs working with clients of all ages and high school-based counseling. I support undergraduate and graduate students who feel stuck and are looking to build a life that feels more meaningful, intentional, and authentic. The college years are full of immense pressure and profound changes, and it's completely normal to feel overwhelmed by it all. Many of the students I work with are trying to navigate anxiety, depression, men’s issues, or ADHD in a high-stakes academic environment. Others are dealing with existential distress - asking big questions about their major, their future, and who they are - or trying to manage the massive life transition of living away from home. Sometimes, the coping mechanisms that got you through high school, including maladaptive ones like avoidance or substance use, just aren't as helpful anymore. My approach to therapy is relational and humanistic. While I use evidence-based techniques, I believe the relationship we build is the most important part of the work. I look beyond clinical labels to understand your unique experience. Think of me as a partner on your journey rather than an observer analyzing you from afar. I am an avid believer in counseling for everyone. I first went to counseling when I was in college and it was during that time that I realized the importance and impact it had in my own life. I believe in the connection between physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional health and investing in the connection between all four. It's constant scrolling through social media to give your brain a break, and that break turns into an hour. Or procrastinating simple tasks like finishing an assignment, or sending an email. Maybe you're having a hard time just waking up and getting out of bed in the morning. It's distressing to feel like you're struggling and not know how to fix it.
