Therapists for college students near Boston College
I am a licensed educational psychologist and psychotherapist. There are times in life when you may struggle with social-emotional issues that are overwhelming. You may be dealing with issues such as anxiety, depression, social stress, relational conflicts, low self-esteem, poor impulse control, trauma, or the challenges of college life. Navigating the myriad of social stressors frequently requires learning new skill sets, which at times may include further development of your Emotional Intelligence (EQ). My goal is to support you as the author of your story and create an approach that fits your unique needs. I focus on helping clients build those inner resources and when possible a network of support that help them weather the challenges in life and promote lasting change. My treatment modality is holistic and integrative. Everyone is unique and as individuals no one therapeutic style may work for everyone. I may incorporate parts of different therapeutic approaches to create a custom fit based on each client's needs.
Are you motivated to make a change or create more insight into thoughts and feelings? I am here to assist you with a wide range of emotional, behavioral and relational challenges in areas such as: handling life transitions, personal growth, managing stress, social anxiety, communication, family conflict, loss, coping with depression and anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, and mood issues.
My approach to therapy is highly warm and collaborative. I tailor evidence-based interventions (CBT, DBT, ACT-informed) that align with my patients expressed personal goals, unique experiences, background/culture, and spiritual beliefs. I have specialty training in behavioral medicine, and hold a philosophy of care grounded in the reciprocal mind/body connection. I have particular specialty in treating physical health conditions through psychological interventions including chronic pain and medically unexplained physical symptoms; however, I support clients with an array of other presenting concerns (Depression, Anxiety, Grief, Stress, Eating. Disorders).
Therapy enables us to heal ourselves and sharpen access to our wisest intuition. As your therapist, I will provide a comfortable space for self-reflection, where you will come to understand yourself at the deepest level. In our work together, you will learn to nurture yourself as you build inner strength and serenity. I’ve worked in community mental health, psychiatric hospitals, outpatient treatment centers, and private practice. Driven by curiosity, empathy, and integrity, my approach is built on the belief that every person is capable of growth. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling seen and understood, and to end therapy as your most authentic self. Though there is always darkness in life, I believe light can be found by those who want to see it. I am not afraid of the dark. Bring me your darkness—your pain, your confusion, your hurt—and we will walk together as you find your guiding lights.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist who works with individuals 13yo+ and offers individual and family therapy. In addition to my private practice, I spent the last eight years working at acute care programs at McLean Hospital with adolescents and their parents, supervised pre- and postdoctoral trainees, and carried an academic appointment at Harvard Medical School. I actively participate in sessions by asking questions and collaborating with you in order to help you achieve your goals. My patients utilize sessions in various ways, such as processing the challenges they are facing and stressful aspects of their lives, working on developing insight into relationship patterns, learning more effective methods of coping, eliciting feedback to communicate their needs more effectively to their supports, better understanding and learning to more effectively manage the intensity of their emotions, exploring various facets of their identity, processing shame and factors impacting their self-esteem, finding ways to live more consistently by their values, and better understanding and/or changing unhelpful behaviors or patterns. I integrate evidence-based treatment interventions, as needed and in a flexible way, to empower you to reduce the impact of your symptoms. I respect that everyone's goals and needs in therapy are different so I am happy to work with you short-term for skills-based work or to work through a time-limited issue, or on an ongoing, longer-term basis. Welcome to Lily Mental Health! College can be one of the most exciting times of life — and also one of the hardest. Between academics, relationships, identity shifts, and the pressure to “have it all figured out,” it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected. On the outside you may look like you’re managing, but inside you may be struggling with stress, burnout, or the feeling that you’re not yourself. I’ve worked with hundreds of college students who’ve faced challenges like anxiety, depression, ADHD, burnout, trauma, and major life transitions. Many have already tried counseling, medications, or coping strategies, but still feel stuck and want something more thoughtful, practical, and personalized. My name is Julie Bass, I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and Certified Perinatal Mental Health Provider (PMH-C). I have worked in mental health for over 10 years and offer a blend of medication management and integrative strategies that go beyond quick fixes. My practice is intentionally small so I can provide personalized care — not rushed diagnoses or one-size-fits-all treatment plans. I take the time to really understand your story, explore the root causes of your symptoms, and help you find sustainable ways forward. I especially enjoy working with college students navigating identity, independence, and transitions, as well as international students, who often carry the added stress of being far from home, balancing cultural expectations, and adapting to a new environment. I also know how busy student schedules can be, so I offer early morning, evening, and weekend appointments to make care more accessible. If you’ve ever thought: “I should be able to handle this, but I feel like I can’t.” “I’m doing everything right, but I still don’t feel better.” “No one seems to actually listen.” …know that you’re not alone. My practice is built on the belief that you deserve care that feels collaborative, respectful, and empowering — care that helps you understand yourself and create lasting change. This is a space where your voice matters. Let’s work together to help you feel grounded, confident, and connected again.
I’m dedicated to providing compassionate, client-centered care. I believe meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, respect, and collaboration. Each session is tailored to your unique needs and goals, helping you build practical skills, increase self-awareness, and move toward a more balanced values-driven life.
I specialize in working with people presenting with mood and anxiety disorders seeking symptom reduction and healthy coping skills and also insight into their mental health challenges.I also work with people of all ages on the Autism Spectrum as well as their families. My overall approach is to set goals to improve daily life while simultaneously working on context and background that may be contributing to today's challenges. People benefit from all different kinds of therapy models. I often get feedback that my approach is more directive and actively engaged than other providers.
