Hi, I’m Dr. Kayla April, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida and Minnesota. I specialize in working with teens, young adults, and older adults dealing with anxiety, depression, anger, ADHD, stress, grief, end-of-life concerns, and mood disorders. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness. In our first sessions, we’ll build a strong connection and create a personalized treatment plan. I use a Unified Protocol approach and am passionate about destigmatizing mental health and supporting lasting change. As a clinician, I offer the opportunity for clients to have autonomy in their sessions and come up with ways on how we can partner together to get through tough moments you are having in life. My primary method of treatment is psychotherapy focused on cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness. I invite you to be vulnerable for a moment and trust me through the process. If you suffer from anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or other serious mental health disorders please reach out and take the steps to self-healing.

Hello! I’m Dr. Matheus Marques, a board-certified psychiatrist specialized in mood disorders, with particular expertise in treatment-resistant depression. I believe in partnering with my patients to develop personalized treatment plans that honor both the latest scientific evidence and each person’s unique circumstances and goals. With over a decade of experience in medicine, I have completed five years of specialized psychiatric training at Mayo Clinic including both my psychiatry residency (where I served as chief resident) and fellowship in mood disorders. At Mayo Clinic, I helped develop institutional consensus for managing treatment-resistant depression, work that ensures I bring the most current approaches to complex cases. I’ve also completed specialized training in reproductive psychiatry through the National Curriculum in Reproductive Psychiatry and continue to participate in their ongoing supervision program. Whether you’re seeking help for depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, treatment-resistant conditions, or mental health needs during pregnancy and postpartum, my goal is to provide thorough, individualized care grounded in the latest research. My practice welcomes patients from across Minnesota, and I look forward to working together to develop a treatment approach that works for you.
Are you having a hard time juggling school, work, family, friend, and self care? Are you finding it harder than you anticipated to stay motivated and focused? Many college students realize once starting school, that moving away, making new friends, being alone for holidays, having additional responsibilies and independence can become very overwhelming and isolating. Working together we can process some of the changes and challenges that are coming up for you so you can adapt well and be able to enjoy the experience of college and self growth and development instead of being overwhelmed, lonely, or unsure of how to climb out of a pile of school work and responsibilites.
I understand what it's like to struggle with the challenges of being a college student. You are balancing going to class, getting good grades, sometimes working a job, family, and friends. That's a lot. You don't have to have all the answers. It's normal to not be ok because life sucks right now. Seeing me doesn't mean you are broken, and it's ok to put your guard down and crumble. I will give you a safe place to be vulnerable and learn to trust.
Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to learn more about me! I have over 15 years of experience working in the mental health field in various settings--including inpatient, outpatient, inner-city clinics, schools, and private practice. I specialize in the treatment of Anxiety Disorders and ADHD. My passion for the field stems from my personal experience with it--overcoming a debilitating anxiety/panic disorder and accompanying depression. It was the scariest, most difficult time of my life. However, I made a promise to myself that if one day I could overcome my debilitating anxiety, then I would help others to do the same. I approach every client uniquely and use an eclectic, person-centered, integrative, evidence-based model as well as the ACT model. We will set overall goals that will not only help you with what you are struggling with mentally but also aid you in reaching better health all-around. When ready, I will challenge you and help set weekly goals to work towards. Aside from the omnipresent stigma, the process of getting help can be overwhelming and exhausting, leaving one feeling frustrated and lonely. However, I also know how life-changing it can be to find the right help. You only get this one life and I am here to help you live it in your most authentic, fully expressed, ideal way. I look forward to connecting!
