Therapists for college students near Durham, NC
Though my therapeutic approach may vary slightly from person to person, it is always my priority to provide a safe, comfortable, welcoming environment where you feel secure in navigating life’s many ups and downs. I believe that a trusting, authentic relationship between client and therapist is the key to progress, so you’ll find that I also show up to the therapy room with authenticity, compassion, acceptance, and sometimes a little humor. I enjoy taking a laid back, curious approach to therapy so I can work to more fully understand an individual’s unique lived experience.
Life doesn't have to feel so hard. You may be anxious, insecure, worried, depressed, lost, or stuck. Maybe you're preoccupied with food & your body. Or stressed out trying to be perfect & get it right, but it always feels like you're falling behind. Maybe your relationships are unsatisfying or you're having less-than-ideal sex. You can't quite put your finger on the problem, but you know that life just feels like a drag right now. You don't have to keep struggling. No matter what's going on, you can make positive changes that improve your life. You deserve to feel joyful, confident, & free. I want to help you get there.
Many of the clients I work with share a deep sense of responsibility for others and struggle to feel permission to rest, take up space, or express their own needs. They’re often self-aware and thoughtful but find themselves stuck in old patterns of people-pleasing, over-functioning, or self-criticism. My clients are usually seeking relief from anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and disconnection from self, longing instead for steadiness, self-trust, and relationships that feel mutual and safe.
As a trained social worker with 11 year’s experience in the field, I’ve worked in a number of settings including the school system, medical facilities, and group practices. I’m a helper at heart and some of my guiding principals as a therapist are: mental health and physical are interconnected and health is not defined by a number on a scale, human beings are innately wired for connection, and success and well being are completely subjective and shouldn’t be defined by anyone but yourself Relationships with others and ourselves are so impactful on our quality of life. By utilizing IFS, EMDR, Polyvagal Theory and Attachment Theory principals, we can gain better understanding on how we interact with the world. Some of my specialties include: ADHD and Neurodivergence Attachment and relationship work Boundaries Anxiety Depression Disordered Eating Stress management Life transitions Trauma
I work with young adults (18-30) on anxiety, social anxiety, and self esteem. Does this describe you? You are the lonely one; you feel unseen. You feel deeply, and your emotions are intense. You are jealous of others who find it easy to connect, and you want what they have. When you seek connection, people disappoint you with their lack of authenticity. You love, but don’t know how to be loved. You once thought a romantic relationship or best friend would be the solution; you would feel whole. But you did not feel complete, and happiness started to feel out of reach. Understanding in your relationships feels foreign. Despite your frustration, you are committed to finding understanding, being valued, and connecting with others. You want to shine and thrive. I know your inner world's importance. I am familiar with the challenge of discovering how to fit in the social world. Can you imagine yourself confidently connecting with others? Can you imagine being valued and heard? Together, we will find your confidence. We will explore fears, hang-ups, and insecurities together. Take the first step towards the confidence and connection you want! Hello! Searching for a counselor can be a very overwhelming task, but a good fit is so important. In my practice I use evidenced-based practices and strive to make them unique to each client. Some of us process by talking, walking, singing, creating or playing and therapy should be a place to process in a safe and familiar way. I have walked along side people who are hurting, lonely, hopeless, feeling stuck, facing big transitions and are looking for a safe place to land. If you think I would be a good fit or would like to learn more please check out my website at www.sarardore.com. Be kind to yourself, you will get through this.
I’m Chesilin Suek, PMHNP, and I’m dedicated to helping adults and teens who feel overwhelmed by anxiety that won’t quiet down, depression that dims their spark, ADHD that makes life feel like constant catch-up, or OCD that traps them in exhausting cycles. Together, we create space for healing, clarity, and forward momentum. I offer a supportive, judgment-free environment where you’re met with understanding, encouragement, and respect every step of the way. My approach focuses on treating the whole person—not just symptoms. While I provide evidence-based medication support when appropriate, I also look at sleep, stress, relationships, lifestyle, and the deeper patterns that influence how you feel and function day to day. Care is never one-size-fits-all; we work collaboratively to create a plan that aligns with your goals, values, and real life. You are not broken, weak, or a burden—you’re human, doing your best in a world that can feel overwhelming. You deserve to feel better, not just get by. You deserve hope, energy, and something to look forward to. You don’t have to keep surviving on autopilot. Together, we’ll untangle what’s holding you back and work toward the life you’ve been wanting and deserve.
