Therapists for college students near 10003
I work primarily with adolescents, young adults, and young professionals through life transitions, relational challenges, and forging identity. Prior to going into private practice, I worked for New York University's Counseling and Wellness Services, seeing the university's dynamic undergraduate and graduate students. I often see those grappling with depression, anxiety, trauma, relational concerns, or sexual concerns. I have a specialty in working with eating and body image concerns/disorders from a Health At Every Size lens. I have niche expertise in concerns related to bariatric (weight loss) surgery and dramatic weight loss. I am LGBTQIA+ allied and often work with those exploring gender and sexuality. I work from a psychodynamic, attachment-based framework, and blend tangible skills to help alleviate your pain in the day-to-day and enhance your relationships. I am a person first, therapist second, and may utilize my own reactions and feelings to help us better understand your relationships in the world. From me, you can expect curiosity, warmth, and lots of questions about your experience to make sure I get it right. I try to leave you with interpretations of your challenges, new ways to think about your current circumstances, and things to try differently.
Leading with compassion, our therapists support individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, and life challenges, whether related to academics, navigating relationships, questions around identity or self-image, transitions, stress or grief. We are client-centered and work collaboratively to empower our clients toward growth and greater fulfillment using modalities including EMDR, Gestalt Therapy, EFT and somatic therapy. Many of us also have experience with meditation and mindfulness practices.
The college students I work best with are thoughtful, curious, and trying hard, even if it doesn’t always feel that way. Many are dealing with anxiety, perfectionism, or OCD and feel overwhelmed by the pressure to succeed, figure things out quickly, or keep it all together. Some struggle with focus, motivation, or routines, even though they care deeply about their goals. A lot of my clients tell me they feel stuck in their heads, constantly overthinking, procrastinating, or second-guessing themselves. They’re tired of feeling like they’re falling behind and want someone who truly understands and can offer tools that actually help. In our work, we make space for what’s difficult while building real strategies to help you feel more grounded, capable, and clear about what you want.

Emma believes that therapy is about helping people better understand themselves, develop effective coping skills, and build a life that aligns with their values. Through her experience supporting social-emotional development in school settings, Emma understands the unique pressures that students and young people face. She works collaboratively with clients to explore patterns, build self-awareness, strengthen resilience, and navigate challenges with greater confidence and self-compassion. Emma strives to create a therapeutic relationship that feels genuine, supportive, and empowering, where clients can show up as themselves and work toward meaningful growth and change.

As a clinician, Abigail aims to create a safe, welcoming space where clients can feel comfortable being themselves. As a mental health counselor dedicated to helping patients cultivate clarity and confidence, I specialize in treating children, adolescents, young adults, and adults. My goal is to help you navigate anxiety, trauma, depression, burnout, life transitions, and/or identity explorations so you live your life fully and authentically. I believe that you are the expert on your life and that everyone is capable of growth and change, which helps me be a supportive and motivational partner to you in the therapy room. I look forward to being a part of your transformative growth in our work together. I’m passionate about helping you know yourself better, increase your psychological flexibility, and find your inner strength. We achieve this together in a collaborative and empathetic environment that incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to guide you in identifying and understanding your core beliefs and patterns, and becoming aware of how these are serving or not serving you. My style is eclectic, collaborative, and person-centered so that care is tailored to your unique needs. My career began with the desire to be a teacher, a path that inspired me to help people learn more about themselves and how to interact with the world around them, not just within school subjects. This experience, along with time spent working with children, adolescents, and families who are or who have been involved in the legal, justice, and child welfare systems, led me to pursue counseling. In my role now as a therapist, I’m committed to using the knowledge and wisdom gained throughout my journey by providing evidence-based mental health care that meets people where they’re at through warmth and humor. I enjoy filling my free time with friends, family, and loved ones. You’ll also often find me scrapbooking and crocheting, or out and about going for walks, spending time outside, and listening to live music.

I have many years experience helping people with their emotional problems. I work with individuals of all ages from adolescence to old age. My approach is listening-focused. No two persons who have come to see me have had the same issues and struggles to contend with. So what is needed is close, attentive listening so I can know how you can most benefit from my help. Many patients prefer to focus on the here and now problems they feel most immediately. But others want to explore their root causes in earlier relations and problems. I try to tailor my practice to work at either or both these levels of intensity.
We are a team of therapists who work with students and young adults navigating stress, identity, and the feeling of having to hold everything together. Many of the students we support are balancing different expectations from family, culture, and their own goals. Some feel caught between different worlds, while others find themselves overthinking, second-guessing, or feeling disconnected from who they are. As a team, we are especially attuned to the experiences of students from multicultural, international, and Asian or Asian American backgrounds. We understand how identity, family dynamics, and expectations can shape the way you move through the world. In this Kind Space, your voice is valued, your story is honored, and every part of you is welcomed. Together, we work to uncover what matters most, address challenges in a way that feels authentic, and build strategies that help you feel grounded, empowered, and more connected to yourself.
You deserve a compassionate and grounded partner in your healing journey. As a mental health counselor for children, adolescents, young adults, and couples, I specialize in helping patients navigate relationship patterns, attachment dynamics, self-esteem development, identity exploration, interpersonal dynamics, anxiety and depression, disordered eating, and life transitions. If you’re ready to work toward greater self-understanding and emotional resilience, please reach out today. I look forward to supporting you as you develop greater confidence, self-acceptance, and a deeper sense of meaning and purpose. I take a holistic, collaborative, and individualized approach to care to help you build insight, emotional awareness, and growth for meaningful, lasting change. We achieve this together in a supportive and nonjudgmental environment tailored to your unique personality, presenting problems, and needs. Your customized treatment plan may include psychodynamic and person-centered therapies, integrated with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and relational therapy to guide you in reaching your goals. My passion for therapy grew from wanting to be a safe space for people going through difficult periods and feeling like they have no one they can talk to. As someone who lacked this outlet as a teenager, I understood the value of providing unconditional, compassionate care. In my practice now, I remain committed to bringing a humanizing perspective to the therapeutic relationship, grounded in the belief that we all share similar emotions and life experiences, in order to ensure patients feel seen, understood, and supported in every session. In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors and staying active through sports like soccer, tennis, wake surfing, skiing (downhill and cross-country), running marathons, yoga, and other workouts; as well as by hiking, taking long walks, and being near the beach or mountains. I also enjoy reading self-help books, watching psychological thrillers and rom-coms, listening to music, cooking healthy meals, and spending meaningful time with friends — staying present and unplugged from phones whenever possible.

Much of my practice has centered around understanding the unique complexities surrounding identity development and interpersonal relationships. I work with a wide range of presenting issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, grief, and trauma. I specialize in relationship distress, life transitions, communication challenges, sexuality and gender related issues, and consensual non-monogamy/polyamory. I believe that transformative therapy begins with a collaborative and trusting therapeutic partnership, one that highlights the unique knowledge, strengths, and skill sets of each client entering the room. Through trauma-informed practice, I aim to facilitate a safe and affirming therapeutic space. I recognize the ways in which institutions, systems, and intersectional identities impact individual experiences and overall wellbeing. My integrated approach to psychotherapy is based upon person-centered, existential, and attachment-based perspectives. I am passionate about exploring the ways in which attachment and trauma impact how an individual’s identity is formed.
