Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if you're used to handling everything on your own. Whether you're feeling anxious, emotionally drained, stuck in patterns you can't seem to break, or simply not feeling like yourself, you don't have to navigate it alone. I work with college students and young adults experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, depression, bipolar disorder, chronic illness, life transitions, relationship challenges, and overwhelming stress. Many of my clients are high achievers who appear to have everything together on the outside while struggling internally with self-doubt, perfectionism, or feeling emotionally exhausted. My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your unique needs. I draw from evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Solution-Focused Therapy, to help you better understand your thoughts and emotions, develop practical coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change. My goal is to provide a space where you feel not only heard but truly understood. Together we'll work toward helping you feel more confident, resilient, and connected to the life you want to live.

You're out on your own and somehow now expected to juggle classes, deadlines, social plans you don’t even have the energy for, and the constant pressure to ‘be better.’ Maybe you’re asking yourself: Am I falling behind? Am I doing enough? Why does this feel so much harder for me than everyone else? I work with ambitious students and young adults navigating anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, trauma, and life transitions - like starting college, moving out of the dorms or from college to career, adjusting to grad school, shifting friendships, or figuring out what adulthood is even supposed to look like. In therapy, we’ll untangle what’s keeping you stuck and build tools that actually work in real life. You don’t have to be falling apart to get support. If you look like you’re holding it together on the outside, but inside you’re overthinking, panicking, or numb to it all, I get it. Together, we’ll find your middle ground where you can grow, slow down without losing your flow, and align your actions with your goals and values.

Life can sneak up on us without warning and emotional stressors impact all individuals without discrimination. Many times people turn to ineffective coping strategies as a means of escaping emotional pain. I believe that the most successful path to healing is one that treats the whole person, not just the symptoms. I understand that addiction, depression, anxiety, and stress can affect every aspect of your life. It is my hope that, together, we can develop healthier skills to overcome whatever barriers you may be experiencing to physical, mental, and emotional wellness. I use an eclectic treatment approach consisting of evidence-based practices, tailored to your individual needs in order to achieve the quality of life you desire. I have formal training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Person-Centered Therapy (PCT). I graduated from St. John Fisher College with my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and went on to get my License in Mental Health Counseling (LMHC). I am also a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). I have worked in a number of outpatient settings and have specialized in treating adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders since 2010. If you feel that you are ready to make positive changes in your life, I encourage you to take that first step on your journey to healing. Let our work together help transform you into the best version of yourself. I look forward to seeing you soon!

My name is Amy Read and I am an Adult & Geriatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. I have specialized my interests in health & wellness after years of struggling with my own symptoms ... symptoms of pain, brain fog, IBS, difficulty with focus, inability to concentration, a very forgetful memory, and so many more. Like so many other suffering I feared the worse, I believed I must have early onset dementia or even cancer. Luckily, I was cleared of anything life threating, but I was told nothing could be done to make me feel better. I realized that I had to find a way to change the outcome, because I was not going to let my life slip by. Because of my personal challenges, I found functional medicine. I found a way to "cure" myself and reclaim my life. It was hard. It took a lot of time. It took work. It took family support. Now I am able to live again and I have many roles and titles, the best of which is being a mother to 6 beautiful children. I love the sun and the beach, if I have a day off that's where you'll find me! The water is mesmerizing and the sun enlightens my soul! I am now a functional medicine practitioner nurse practitioner and bring over 25 years of experience into my practice. Functional medicine has saved my life and become my passion for helping others. My own triumphs and trials with depression, anxiety, ADHD, food sensitivities and fibromyalgia allow me to have a deep understanding of what my clients are going through and what they need to have in order to achieve the life of their dreams. Through my programs, clients who are committed and ready for change, are able to obtain optimal health and wellness.

As a mental health counselor, I work with adolescents and young adults as they move through life's transitions, helping them manage anxiety and depression triggers, process the changes they’re experiencing, and find healthier ways to understand and manage their emotions. I’m passionate about helping patients build confidence and self-esteem along the way. Reliability, respect, and trust guide how I show up as a supportive and trustworthy clinician. I look forward to helping you achieve your goals and learn how to manage the challenges you may face along the way. I specialize in using CBT, or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, to build coping skills and strategies for managing the stressors that come with different stages of life, along with Motivational Interviewing, or MI, to help you find what motivates you and use that motivation to make changes in your life. This approach is collaborative, empathetic, and pragmatic, and tailored to your unique story. Creating a strong therapeutic alliance is also central to how I work, because I believe it can be key to successfully attaining goals in therapy. It matters to me that patients feel safe and free of judgment, and that is what I hope to provide as your clinician. Together, we can build a calm and supportive environment where you feel comfortable working toward your goals. My path to becoming a therapist began with my own journey through therapy, experiencing its effects and the support that therapy can provide to those who are engaged in it. I wanted to offer that same support and comfort to others, creating a safe and empathetic environment where patients could work toward their goals. This experience deepened my commitment to providing consistent, supportive, warm, and welcoming care. Carrying that experience forward, I bring the idea that each person and each session hold its own story. In our sessions, I hope to learn your story and support you in reviewing your previous chapters while creating a plan to help you write the next one. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, whether we're headed to the beach, a concert, or a new restaurant — I'm always up for a new adventure. Sporting events are another favorite, especially cheering on women's sports and the PWHL. On calmer days, you'll find me watching movies of all kinds, reading books, or spending time with my dog.

Biography: Hello! Thank you for visiting my Teladoc profile. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of New York with over 20 years of experience in mental health. I graduated with a Doctorate of Social Work from Capella University, a Masters of Social Work from Marywood University, and undergraduate degree from State University of NY -Suny Empire. I specialize in working with teens and adults coping with life stressors related to personal relationships, life changes, work-related issues, stress/anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, and trauma. I have diverse experience from a variety of treatment settings. I have worked as a school-based social worker in both a school-based mental health center and as a social work consultant, worked with soldiers and their families on military installations, and worked in outpatient mental health clinics. I use a person-centered, trauma-informed approach tailored to the unique needs of each individual. Each person has a unique perspective and set of core beliefs around their experience of life. Through exploration of these perspectives and beliefs one can connect to the truth within themselves in the present moment, become free from self-generated suffering, and gain insight, clarity and choice in their behavior. Modalities utilized in therapy include Cognitive Processing therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Compassionate Inquiry, Act therapy, and Positive Psychology. I believe that each person entering therapy is seeking to find the answers for their lives that will enhance their ability to have the best life possible. Life happens and then each of us need to figure it out. Sometimes we need someone to come along side on our journey to help us find our best way forward. Remember, life is a journey, not a destination. I look forward to working with you!

I’m a licensed psychologist and have worked with college-age young adults for many years. I have a youthful energy and I believe in being a good and supportive listener. I utilize evidence-based cognitive-behavioral and acceptance and commitment therapy interventions to help young adults create and apply effective action plans in their life. I’m not interested in helping young adults merely admire their problems, is this usually results in remaining stuck. Instead, I work collaboratively to identify promising interventions to move our life forward towards desired goals. This, I find, is the only way for a person to build genuine confidence.

And, we have the power to choose what is best! In the moments of indecision, when we apply love and self-compassion, we have all we need to make a decision. And sometimes, when everything falls apart, that is when perfection can set in. I work with clients with a variety of mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, sexual health concerns, relationship difficulties, parenting, infertility, postpartum, communication difficulties, low energy, among others. I work in a warm, transparent, and collaborative way. Humor — and sometimes swearing — has a place in session, because I believe both can build distress tolerance. Expect to dive into action: my job is to help you do the hard thing. Together, we’ll confront unhelpful patterns and interrupt the cycle of avoidance through experiential exposure. You’ll practice new ways of facing difficult situations, build specific skills for doing hard things, and move toward what actually matters to you — step by step, toward a life aligned with your values. When you work with me, expect to dive into action. My goal is to help you do the hard thing. Background & Training I received my Ph.D. from Columbia University and have 18+ years of experience providing culturally informed therapy to adults, with specialized training in multicultural psychology. I use evidence-based Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) within an interpersonal framework, integrating attachment theory, IFS and polyvagal-informed trauma approaches. I believe the therapeutic relationship, paired with research-backed methods, can be genuinely transformative. No one gives us a guide on how to be human or how to build a fulfilling life. In therapy, I provide a compassionate space where you can learn how to process and regulate emotions, navigate relationships and boundaries, uncover avoidance patterns, and connect with your core values. Specialties Anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, autism, adult ADHD, identity concerns and exploration, life transitions, and relationship challenges. My work is attachment- and trauma-informed, drawing on mindfulness and emotion-processing skills, experiential exposure, boundary work, and values-based practice to reduce experiential avoidance and build lasting change.

My passion has always been working with adolescents and young adults who are dealing with life's challenges in the form of mood struggles, relationship challenges, life transitions, and substance abuse. If you haven't really been feeling like "you" lately and have struggled with any of these things, we can work together to begin to process these emotions and build the skills to manage them in a more comfortable way. I believe that you have capabilities and strengths within you that we can draw out and build on in order to help you move forward.
