Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or the pressures of life transitions, I'm here to help. With over 40 years of experience, I work with individuals and couples, centering our work in attachment, relational, and mind-body approaches to help you understand what's holding you back and move toward the life you want. We'll start by identifying goals together and creating a safe space where you can talk openly about your experiences. My approach is collaborative, and grounded— whatever pace you need, we'll work at it together.

I come to this work from a place of deep respect for each individual’s story and path. I believe in creating an inclusive, welcoming space where you will feel comfortable exploring both your strengths and your challenges. I have a collaborative approach and value being direct, supportive, responsive to feedback. I have a background in Women’s Studies and literature and creative writing and may incorporate creative and expressive activities such as storytelling and reading other people’s stories as part of our work. I have experience working with a range of issues and populations (see below). I am passionate about women’s and LGBTQI issues and have extensive experience working with gender expansive and transgender individuals along the gender continuum. Fundamentally, I believe the relationship between an individual and his/her/their therapist matters much more than the specific techniques employed. My primary focus early in therapy is developing a relationship where my clients trust me and feel comfortable. I work with individuals in an open and honest dialogue and help individuals increase resiliency and coping skills through identifying their strengths. Primarily I provide individual counseling on a weekly basis. Many clients will be able to work through a particular issue or issues in a brief time, but I am also able to work with clients over a longer span of time.

I am a New York State licensed therapist working with adults and adolescents experiencing depression, anxiety, and OCD. Many of the people I work with are high functioning and successful, but feel stuck in patterns of overthinking, avoidance, or low mood that are difficult to shift. In therapy, we focus on understanding these patterns and developing practical strategies to respond differently. This often includes learning skills to manage intrusive or anxious thoughts, improve mood, and increase tolerance for uncertainty and difficult emotions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in practical strategies, while also providing space to explore underlying factors that may cause distress. I use evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).

We may have all asked ourselves at one time or another..."How did I (or we) get here?" During these times, talking to someone who understands helps. I have helped many college students/young adults with adjusting to college life, academic stressors and relationship difficulties. I am skilled in helping students manage anxiety and depression. I believe that understanding you and the reasons you are seeking counseling as essential to our work together. We will employ practical strategies you can utilize outside of the office. Students will often ask me, "what is my homework?" It will feel empowering to work on your goals both in and outside of therapy.

Hello! I'm so glad you're taking this step for your mental health. I went to the therapy for the first time while attending college (at USC too!), and it was pivotal for me. I really value working with college students, and genuinely appreciate how much you have to do deal with. Maybe you're struggling with transitions - adjusting to the start of college, or facing the daunting landscape post-graduation. Maybe you can feel all the pressures mounting to the point where you feel paralyzed and burnt out and confused. Maybe you'd like for just one thing - anything - to be taken off your plate, or for the load to be shared somehow. Maybe you're even trying to figure yourself out beyond the story that's been your life so far. I'd like to help make things seem clearer, or kinder, or safer, and I think we can do it together. I offer 45-minute sessions, as well as longer 90-minute sessions, to fit what you might need best. I also offer letters for medical transition, disability, ESA, and can complete return to school forms.

College can bring pressure, transition, and a sense of disconnection from yourself or others. Many students struggle with anxiety, eating concerns, mood shifts, or feeling stuck in patterns that are hard to change alone. I work with students to understand what’s underneath these experiences and to build a steadier, more grounded way of navigating life.

Choosing a therapist and getting started itself can be overwhelming. I believe that treatment must be specific to the person and the problem and be based on a broad array of available clinical modalities and interventions. These interventions are always provided with safe, supportive and professional care. I have over twenty years experience as a psychologist and as a supervisor and trainer of therapists from all of the mental health fields. I head a group private practice with many available resources for adults and children. I am a leader in the field of abuse and trauma as well as sexuality and relationships. Some of my credentials include: Diplomate and Clinical Supervisor of the American Board of Sexology; Diplomate and Certified Sex Therapist of the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists; and, Master Addiction Counselor by the National Certification Commission for Addiction Professionals.
