Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Portland, OR

Hi, I’m Katharine Frissora, a doctorally prepared integrative psychiatric nurse practitioner. I blend traditional psychiatric care with holistic approaches to support mental health in a more whole-person way. I also have a background in art therapy, which shapes how I think about creativity, self-expression, and their role in healing. I work best with people who want to be active participants in their mental health care and are curious about looking beyond symptoms alone. Whether you’re going through a life transition, feeling stuck, or wanting a deeper understanding of what’s driving your challenges, we’ll work together to create a personalized plan that fits you. My goal is to help you address the root causes impacting your well-being and support sustainable, meaningful change.

All inquires should go through our website. www.Principlemind.com The goal at Principle Mind is to get you better. Principle Mind is about the integration of medication with goal-specific therapy. Our approach is to identify the core underpinnings of mental distress. We aim to meet individuals where they are, while at the same time working as hard as you are. While diagnosis and evidence-based medicine do guide our treatment, we treat the person in front of us and their symptoms, as every diagnosis may present differently, and be caused by different sources. If you are motivated, open-minded, and wanting to be more than a spectator in your life, we can work together to obtain wellness and actually get you better. By focusing on core emotional identification and using interpersonal dynamic interactions, we can discover a path to better connection personally, professionally and socially.

As an art therapist and counselor, I utilize the process and product of art making to support individuals in discovering insight, moving toward growth, and finding balance. Art therapy can offer an alternative means of communication to express difficult emotions or experiences that may feel impossible to put into words. You do not have to identify as an artist to find healing through art therapy. Art making is always optional and no artistic skills or previous experience is needed. If you would like to learn more about what therapy might look like or how I can support you, please feel free to contact me.

I see counseling or therapy as an active, collaborative process. I consider it an honor to go on that journey with clients and build a working relationship focused on understanding the process of change and growth, whatever the context and conditions affecting it. I believe we can learn how to best understand our personal situation from a place of acceptance and gratitude, and how to make the most skillful decisions to best enable us to utilize a sense of purpose and maintain appreciation of ourselves and the world around us. I believe in a client centered approach and utilize various treatment modalities to best serve each one.

I help adults, couples, and families who feel trapped in a cycle of loneliness and disconnection, cut off from themselves, and unhappy with the trajectory of their relationships and life goals. I have also been an instructor and lecturer at various universities and colleges for over 12 years and understand the unique stress students face in situations such as navigating relationships within student cohort communities, dealing with out-of-touch professors and administration, facing non-exclusive environments, and dealing with staff and student health services. I prioritize confidentiality and privacy, helping you access available services with confidence and make informed decisions about your college experience without regretting the sacrifices you make to attend college. I have over 20 years of experience as a psychotherapist and dance movement therapist, specializing in treating anxiety, depression, loneliness, intimacy, communication problems, learning differences, self-esteem, health issues, life transitions, grief & loss, professional/work issues, and family and relationship stress and estrangement, ensuring comprehensive support for your unique needs. My work involves creating a safe, neutral space where we can engage in open dialogue and work systematically with empathy toward healing, growth, and solutions, guiding you through a clear, collaborative process. I enjoy working with people who are nervous about beginning therapy or have never participated in couples or family estrangement counseling.

If you are struggling to get through the day and need support, you're in the right place. Anxiety and depression can seem like the only voice of reason at times, and therapy is a great way to help sort through these confusing and distressing emotions. Understanding that change takes time and can be difficult is one of my core values as a person-centered therapist. I'm passionate about working with people from multicultural backgrounds, as well as those in the LGBTQIA2S+ community. I became a therapist because I enjoy helping people realize their true potential, and believe in the therapeutic process as a way to reach that. When outside of the office, I enjoy being outdoors and connecting with nature. I love to hike, ski, and go camping with my friends and family. Music is a big part of my life, and I enjoy playing the Ukulele. Life can be extremely difficult, and reaching out for help is the first step to healing. It's hard to go through symptoms alone. I'm currently taking on new clients ages 11 and up, both in person and via Telehealth.

Eudaemonia Equine Connections, Inc. (EEC Inc.)'s Equine-Assisted Mental Health (EAMH) Treatment for Stability and Wellness Clinical Program is a behavioral health program offering outpatient psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and groups. Equine-Assisted Mental Health (EAMH) is a specialized psychotherapy treatment that incorporates equines into the therapeutic environment. It is a form of animal-assisted therapy (AAT) that integrates the human–animal bond and relationship with a horse as part of treatment and recovery in psychotherapy. EAMH treatment is an interactive process in which a licensed mental health professional working with or as an appropriately credentialed equine professional partners with suitable equine(s) to address psychotherapy goals set forth by the mental health professional and the client. EAMH is all about learning how to communicate, interact, and connect with horses directly and indirectly during psychotherapy work. Horses are beautiful and novel creatures that may help reduce stigma of psychotherapy, reduce barriers of those who do not do well or do not want to participate in office-based therapy. In turn, they may help to normalize the therapy process through in-person physical interaction and presence with horses. At EEC Inc., EAMH clinical psychotherapy interventions provided include psychosocial techniques (interpersonal interaction, learning experiences, role playing practice, relationship building, and coping skills) to reduce distress, maladaptive behavior, and psychological and psychiatric problems and to enhance adaptive functioning and positive experiences in everyday life. -Strong focus on present-moment awareness, experiential learning, and the integration of the mind-body-spirit connection. -Way to work in relationship building -Real-time learning through experience Clinician: Dr. Rebecca Wara-Goss, LMFT, Ph.D., CTRI, ESMHL, is the Founder/Executive Director of Eudaemonia Equine Connections, Inc., Lead Therapist for equine-assisted mental health (EAMH) direct clinical services; and principal researcher and consultant for EAMH research design and consultation services. Dr. Wara-Goss is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Oregon, USA. Her approach is to create a safe and supportive environment, in addition to creating a therapeutic space where potential for healing, growth and self-transformations are possible through acceptance, warmth, respect, and collaborative participation with client treatment goals. Dr. Wara-Goss specializes in transpersonal psychology, humanistic and client-centered psychology, somatic and holistic psychology, psychosynthesis, animal-assisted therapy (AAT), equine-assisted services in mental health (EAMH), in addition to evidenced-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused (TF)-CBT, trauma work, solution-focused and strengths-based psychotherapies. She utilizes a variety of psychotherapy methods and techniques to help people experiencing psychological distress in order to achieve stability and emotional wellness. Dr. Wara-Goss' clinical approach includes integrating EAMH treatment and evidence-based treatment modalities with holistic-transpersonal psychology and client-centered treatment approaches to achieve stability, symptom management, deeper sense of self, and life purpose.
