People who never felt "just like everyone else" or dealt with a lot of negative self talk are those who I love supporting most. I am an art therapist, as well as a licensed professional counselor, and that means we have a lot of options in our tool box to find what works best for you. What is most important to me is making sure you feel heard, comfortable, and safe (and maybe even laugh once or twice)! I specialize in adolescents as well as young adults/college age clients as they continue to navigate "growing up". Sometimes sessions may be 100% talk therapy, sometimes 100% art/music interventions, and often some mix of both- it is totally up to what you are most comfortable with.
Occasionally we all struggle to stay "on top" of things, or have a hard time keeping up with everything we need to do in a day. For some of us, it's a little more than that. It's constant scrolling through social media to give your brain a break, and that break turns into an hour. Or procrastinating simple tasks like finishing an assignment, or sending an email. Maybe you're having a hard time just waking up and getting out of bed in the morning. It's distressing to feel like you're struggling and not know how to fix it. If this sounds like you, just know: things can get better! Anxiety and depression don't have to rule your life. I'd love to work together with you on topics of general anxiety, self-confidence, identity issues, relationship issues, faith/religious questioning, perfectionism, and depression (and more!). As a CBT therapist, I help you identify areas of difficulty in your routine so we can build skills like self-awareness, coping mechanisms, and self-esteem. We are all learning how to do this thing called Life. And you can learn how to live happily and authentically! I aim to provide a calming space where we can slow down, and work together to better understand and accept the person that you are, and the person you want to be.
I have been influenced by many counseling theories but gravitate most strongly to those emphasizing a collaborative relationship where the client is viewed as the expert on their own life. I believe that human beings are always doing their best given the tools that they possess. I also believe that our society differentially imparts barriers to certain groups and that often these obstacles, rather than personal failure, stand in the way of our goals. Most importantly, I believe that the therapy relationship is a potential vehicle for growth and my most fundamental goal is to create a safe and nurturing environment. I am trained as a generalist and most often work with individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, family issues, grief, and trauma. I am particularly interested in working with oppressed groups, including women, ethnic minorities, and gay, lesbian, and bisexual individuals. I use a variety of approaches in therapy. Compassionate listening with a holistic focus is always the foundation. At times I also draw from neuroscience, mind body techniques, hypnotherapy, Rapid Resolution Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique, and Internal Family Systems among others.
If you feel worried or tense or stressed out much of the time I can help. Also, if you have trouble focusing or have ADHD, I'd love to work with you! College and grad school are times of a lot of pressure and a lot of change, but you can do it. I can help. Click on my website to schedule and appointment.
A therapy space for Black women (LGBTQ allied) who have been feeling a heaviness and burdened by the traumas and the difficult challenges of just being a human being on this society. These women are educated, career driven and leaders of their families but, there is a heaviness that they cannot escape. In this place you are seen and heard without judgement. All parts of you are welcomed, even the parts you do not particularly like. In this space you can tell your story and begin to be in touch with the “self”, you. You will being to trust again or for the first time. You will learn that this part of you was there all of the time.
We all need spaces where we can show up as our full, authentic selves—messy, complex, and human. Therapy can be that space: a place where we can slow down together, reflect, and explore what healing and growth might look like for you. I work with adults navigating trauma, anxiety, ADHD, and relationship challenges. My approach is deeply relational—grounded in empathy, respect, and a commitment to understanding your unique story. In our work together, we'll explore what’s been holding you back and what’s helped you get through, always focusing on what feels most meaningful and supportive for you. I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including EMDR, DBT, relational, somatic, and psychodynamic techniques, and I tailor our work to what best supports you. Healing happens in connection, and in our work together, I’ll meet you with care, curiosity, and a focus on what might be possible as we explore a path toward more ease, trust, and connection in your life. If you're curious about starting therapy, please reach out. I’d love to connect and explore what healing and growth could look like for you!
Are you afraid of making one mistake that ruins your whole life? Do you find yourself constantly tired and anxious? Unable to have fun no matter what you’re doing? Maybe you’re looking for a therapist who's a dungeon master and watches anime? Then I’m your person. I am passionate about providing affirming care to geeky queer, trans, and gender-expansive individuals (13 years and older), and I specialize in folks experiencing OCD/anxiety, identity exploration, and life transitions, although I love to work with clients on a large variety of concerns. My goal is to create a space where you can slow down and feel truly seen for every aspect of you. Together, we’ll build up your toolbox with skills so you can set boundaries with others and calm your compulsive thoughts. We’ll explore the habits you’ve been meaning to stop and create ways to manage your time better. One way I enjoy connecting with clients is through media, video games, and other current geeky events – also known as Geek Therapy, where we use fantasy and play to work through what brings you to counseling. Depending on your passions, this can look like utilizing games, creating Dungeons & Dragons character sheets, watching your favorite tv show together or even showing up to a session in cosplay! We can bring your interests into the room to make therapy less scary and more empowering. Counseling has been absolutely crucial to my own journey, while also opening my eyes to the lack of queer-affirming support that is out there. This inspired me to become a counselor who gives back to their own community, by creating brave and affirming spaces for LGBTQIA+ folx. I know how powerless and shameful it feels having to hide away parts of yourself to fit in with others and that is not necessary here. You can be yourself with me.
As compassionate, experienced LGBTQ+ therapists, we can help you with anxiety, depression, relationships, sexuality or gender identity and begin achieving your vision of a better life. You may be feeling stressed, alone, depressed, or anxious. Maybe you don’t know what is wrong - your life just feels empty and lacking purpose. One thing you do know is that you’re tired of the struggle. You’re hoping a therapist can help - and we CAN help - even if you feel doubtful about that right now. We offer the safe, affirming space for you.
Thanks for being here, I'm Liz. I'm a recent graduate of the University of Georgia's Master of Social Work program working as a therapist in Decatur. I'm generally laid-back, welcoming, direct, and use the occasional swear word, but only if that works for you. I work diligently to create a space that is warm, validating, and also challenging when appropriate. My experience is primarily with LGBQIA+, transgender, and gender-expansive clients, and my approach is supportive, affirming, and integrates advocacy and power analysis. I see adults for individual therapy navigating the following: life transitions and/or identity development boundaries and/or stress religious or spiritual trauma I believe clients are the experts of their own experiences and that a positive, collaborative therapeutic alliance is deeply important. My approach to therapy is grounded in those beliefs, and I work diligently to create a space where clients feel brave, heard, and empowered. I believe therapy should be holistic, pulling from systems theory, strengths-based, and person-centered approaches. I operate from a harm reduction framework and utilize motivational interviewing. I’m currently a licensed social worker (LMSW) under the supervision of Mick Rehrig, LCSW and the direction of Ryan DeVane, LCSW.
I am a therapist who integrates cognitive-behavioral techniques and systems theories into my clinical treatment of children, adolescents, and college students. Because I greatly value interdisciplinary work, I strive for successful collaboration with social workers, physicians, and educators in the provision of holistic behavioral healthcare for my clients. I have additional specialized training in trauma & behavioral sleep medicine. Being nationally certified in TF-CBT, I work with victims of childhood abuse, providing evidence-based treatment to promote healing & recovery. In my behavioral sleep medicine work I provide interventions to reduce sleep disturbances & improve daytime functioning for my clients. Further, in my work with college students I provide cognitive-behavioral interventions to address mood and anxiety symptoms, improve academic functioning, and enhance coping skills. I often operate from a feministic perspective, with the goals of empowerment, increasing self-esteem, and healthy boundary development.
Anxiety, stress, fear, depression. All these words may describe the way you feel stuck right now, how do you get out? As a licensed and trained DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) Psychotherapist, I practice what I have found to be the most evidence based, effective, and personally meaningful approaches to help you exactly where you are, right now. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship/social issues, life transition, behavioral problems, suicidal or harmful thoughts, or bipolar or disordered personality traits, my practice is designed to provide relief and direction for your specific difficulties. I’m also here to help create the space for you to figure out what it means to be you, who you are, and who you want to be. Together, we can figure out the pieces. I look forward to meeting you, whether this is your first experience with counseling or if you are looking for a different approach. Whatever brings you to my office, we can do this together. I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Asbury Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Georgia. I am also an engaged speaker at Georgia Institute of Technology, the University of Georgia, and multiple organizations focused on providing mental health resources to college students and young adults. Additionally, I serve as a mental health liaison for most colleges and high schools in the Atlanta area and small group leader training in mental health awareness. As an LAPC, I receive my supervision from Marissa Mundy, LPC, CPCS. My additional trainings in Mindfulness Meditation, ACT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and CAMS enable me to work with clients of multiple faiths, backgrounds, and experiences.
Hello there! I am Abbie Becker (LMSW), a licensed psychotherapist specializing in DBT, RO-DBT, and CBT for adolescents and young adults. I work with clients that are seeking out services for individual, family, and group therapy. Whether you are new to therapy, ready to return, or wavering at the thought, I’m eager to connect – no matter where you are in life. Before we explore the fundamental question of “What brings you to therapy?”, I think it’s only reasonable for you to become acquainted with your potential therapist. I incorporate my values into practice by instilling authenticity, empathy, kindness, resiliency, and vulnerability. Originating in Metro Atlanta and raised on Georgia football, I received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Georgia, while managing to find my way back to Atlanta for a master’s in clinical social work from Kennesaw State. On any given day, you can find me unapologetically jamming to music, scanning flight deals for my next place of travel, and expressing creativity through unfinished furniture flips, blank canvases, and original jewelry designs. I’m passionate about working with individuals who have challenges with anxiety, depression, mood instability, medical trauma, under-controlled and over-controlled traits, women’s health, belongingness, and self-esteem. With hundreds of relationships established across my diverse experiences with a human trafficking non-profit and three residential facilities - including Hillside, a nationally recognized treatment program - I consistently recognize that no one is too broken, hopeless, or unworthy of having a life that is worth living. The unpredictable elements of life can be overwhelming. At times, it feels like the sun may never rise. However, these are also the bittersweet moments that foster personal growth, and it would be my absolute privilege in guiding you to the warm light. We are Living Fully Psychological Services, but affectionately call ourselves Living Fully Therapy. Dr. Pegah Moghaddam is the owner and founder of Living Fully. We provide therapy online and in-person at an office located in Atlanta, Georgia, within walking distance of Emory University. Our psychologists and therapists specialize in therapy for trauma, anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, eating disorders, and sleep. With life experience comes pain, loss, and suffering. Healing, growth, and change are a result of processing these painful experiences in a non-judgmental and compassionate way. At Living Fully Therapy, we provide unique therapeutic services. Our goal is to learn about and understand your unique history and life path with openness, compassion, acceptance, and patience. We will teach you to do the same for yourself, as these factors are necessary to the process of change and ultimately to live fully. From there, we will determine where you'd like to go and the most effective process to achieving your goals. We are honored to facilitate your journey toward living fully. Please note that we are an out-of-network, non-preferred provider with Aetna student health insurance for Emory students. If you are enrolled in the Emory University Student Health Insurance Plan (EUSHIP), you will need a referral from Emory Student Health Services to Living Fully before starting sessions. You will need one referral per academic year (which begins each August 1). The 2023-2024 EUSHIP has a $750 deductible for non-preferred providers, which you will typically meet within your first 5-6 sessions at Living Fully. After your deductible is met, you will pay approximately $85 per session.

I like to collaborate with and help clients with Anxiety, Depression, Eating Disorders and/or disordered eating, Trauma, PTSD, Relationship and family of origin concerns, Bodily Focused Repetitive Behaviors, Chronic Pain, Chronic Medical Problems, Grief and Loss, Life Transitions, and Caregiver stress. I began Telehealth therapy via HIPAA compliant video sessions during COVID. When you’re not experiencing COVID or any other contagious symptoms, I offer Telehealth Monday-Thursdays, and in-person psychotherapy sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the Decatur?Scottdale, GA area. Our office (house) is located not far from Emory University, Agnes Scott College, and Decatur. We offer free parking in a wheelchair accessible building. Please see my profile in Psychology Today for more information, and feel free to call me for a phone consultation. Phone calls generally work best, as I occasionally miss emails, so if you email me, please follow up with a phone call. I look forward to speaking with you - let’s see if I would be a good match for your needs! INSURANCE NOTE: I do take Aetna Student Health insurance, however I'm not a CORE provider (Tier 1). I am an In-network (Tier 2), preferred provider with Aetna, and Aetna Student Health Insurance will have a different rate/copy, &/or coinsurance amount for Tier 2 providers than for CORE providers. Although I may be able to explain potential differences in coverage, I encourage you to check your insurance benefits for the differences between in-and out-of-network providers and the difference between core and non-core providers, whether your deductible has been met, and the required copay/co-insurance information for the cost of the session prior to making an appointment.
