Drawing from 10+ years of clinical experience, I use a solution-focused approach to teach skills to overcome worry, depression, anger, stress, guilt, low self-esteem, sleep issues, relationship struggles, and parenting challenges. Just Heal Counseling is a wellness center that aims to acknowledge you as a whole person, understanding the mind, body, and spirit connection. Using this holistic approach helps us to see you as not just a symptom or disorder; but aim in expanding on your growth potential and encouraging a better quality of life.
You may look like you have it together on the outside—but internally, you feel overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck. You might be juggling school, work, relationships, or the pressures of adulthood while trying to keep up and not fall behind. On the surface, you’re functioning—but underneath, you may feel mentally exhausted, hard on yourself, and unsure how to slow down. Many of my clients are high-functioning women, including college-aged and young adults, who struggle with anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, and self-esteem challenges. You may find yourself overthinking, comparing yourself to others, or feeling like you’re never quite “enough,” even when you’re doing your best. In our work together, you don’t have to have everything figured out. This is a space where you can be honest about what you’re experiencing without judgment, and begin to better understand yourself in a more compassionate way. Together, we’ll focus on: • Managing anxiety and overthinking • Reducing burnout and emotional overwhelm • Letting go of perfectionism and harsh self-criticism • Building confidence and improving self-worth • Developing practical coping strategies that fit your real life • Improving your relationship with yourself and your body My approach blends DBT, ACT, mindfulness, and person-centered therapy, allowing us to both build concrete coping skills and explore the deeper patterns that may be keeping you stuck. ⸻ I also work with adolescents who experience big emotions and need support learning how to understand and regulate them in a healthy, supportive environment. ⸻ With experience across schools, juvenile systems, substance use programs, and community mental health, I bring a well-rounded perspective to my work. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, more confident, and less overwhelmed—so you can show up in your life with greater clarity and ease. If you’re ready to begin therapy, I offer a free consultation to see if we’re a good fit. I am an Associate Licensed Professional Counselor (APC010460) practicing under the clinical supervision of Tara Towler-Cumby (LPC005795)
Trauma impacts our relationships. It's that simple. If your sexual assault makes it hard to be touched, if events from your childhood leave you afraid to trust, if the way your ex treated you is ruining things for you now: you're experiencing that impact. It may feel like a lot, but having the type of relationships you want (laugh 'til you cry, hot sex, deep emotional connection, whatever!) is totally achievable. You don't have to feel embarrassed by what you've gone through or scared to speak it out loud. Vulnerability, authenticity, and healthy connection are waiting for you and you don't have to find them on your own. In addition to post-traumatic growth, I help individuals and couples who are managing sexual dysfunction, infidelity, or are experiencing general relationship issues. For those who identify as LGBTQIA+ and those in alternative relationship structures: my practice is affirming and inclusive. I serve these populations safely, competently, and joyfully. I look forward to being a "someone who gets it" in your life and meeting you in a space where nothing is considered too much information. In fact, TMI is my favorite kind of I! Just send me a message to set up a consult.
Hello, I’m Joanna, a compassionate and experienced psychotherapist dedicated to helping adults, college students, and student-athletes navigate life’s challenges. College can be an exciting time, but balancing academic pressure, relationships, independence, finances, athletic responsibilities, and expectations for the future can also feel overwhelming. Whether you are experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship concerns, co-dependency, low self-esteem, emotional regulation difficulties, or everyday stress, I provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard and understood. I also provide therapy for athletes experiencing performance anxiety, difficulty balancing academics and athletics, burnout, injuries, identity concerns, low confidence, and stress related to competition or team expectations. Together, we will explore the challenges you are facing, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop practical tools to strengthen your coping skills, confidence, emotional well-being, and overall performance. My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and tailored to your individual needs. I earned my degrees from Northern Kentucky University with honors, specializing in Trauma-Informed Care, and I am currently pursuing my doctorate to expand my clinical expertise. I incorporate a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches to ensure that treatment is personalized to your experiences and goals. You do not have to navigate college, athletics, or life’s challenges alone. Taking the first step toward therapy is a courageous decision, and I am here to support you throughout the process. Together, we can work toward helping you heal, grow, build resilience, and create a life that feels balanced and meaningful.
I specialize in sex therapy and relationship counseling for LGBTQ+, gender-expansive, kink-involved, and consensually non-monogamous adults. Many of my clients are navigating desire discrepancies, identity transitions, communication challenges, or persistent shame around sexuality and intimacy. You may feel capable and self-aware in most areas of life yet unsettled in your closest relationships. Together, we will connect the dots between present triggers and earlier relational experiences so recurring patterns can be understood and shifted with intention. Therapy with me is relational, direct, and grounded in an intersectional framework. I integrate sex therapy, narrative approaches, and practical communication tools to help clients identify patterns and take active steps toward change. While we address complex and vulnerable topics, humor and honesty create space for authenticity and connection. It makes sense if you feel overwhelmed, discouraged, or unsure where to begin. Therapy can be a place to explore your identity and relationships without carrying the burden of explanation or self-protection. If you’re ready to engage deeply and take an active role in meaningful change, I invite you to connect.

Do you want to feel connected to others? Are you looking to transform an emotional wound? Are you seeking hope? You deserve to feel known and seen and understood. You deserve to feel permanent. As a queer, nonbinary, polyamorous therapist, I understand the importance of developing secure attachments in order to navigate the world. I offer individual and relationship therapy. I work with teens, young adults, and adults to explore gender identity, sexual orientation, neurodiversity, trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and relationships. I take a collaborative approach to the therapeutic relationship and tailor sessions to your goals in therapy. As we work together this may look like traditional talk therapy or an embodied drama therapy approach. If you are looking for a therapeutic modality that moves beyond verbal processing into a somatic practice, drama therapy is a good option. Through metaphor, we can explore trauma while minimizing retraumatization. We can explore roles like the hero, the optimist, and the child. Through play, we can connect and transform.

College and early adulthood can be a time of incredible growth—but it can also be a time when questions about identity, purpose, relationships, independence, and the future become especially difficult to navigate. You may find yourself asking, Who am I? What do I actually want? Am I on the right path? Why do I feel so overwhelmed when everything seems like it should be going well? My approach to counseling is grounded in existential-humanistic therapy, which means I believe you are more than a diagnosis, a difficult experience, or a chapter in your past. I see therapy as a collaborative space where you can be understood as a whole person, explore what gives your life meaning, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself and the choices you want to make. I have extensive training and certifications in trauma and understand how past experiences can continue to influence the way we think, feel, relate to others, and see ourselves. Whether you are processing trauma or simply trying to understand patterns that no longer serve you, we can work together at a pace that feels safe and respectful. I also work with college-aged students experiencing ADHD, anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder, including the ways these challenges can affect academics, relationships, motivation, self-esteem, emotional regulation, and everyday life. My goal is not to tell you who you should be or what your life should look like. Instead, I want to help you better understand yourself, recognize your strengths, work through what has been painful, and make intentional choices about the person and life you want to create. Therapy can be a place to put down the pressure to have everything figured out. You don't have to arrive with the right words or know exactly what you need. We can start where you are. You are not behind. You are becoming. And you don't have to figure it all out alone.

I believe every one of us is a good person at heart, we are all trying our best and laziness is a myth. You may have a hard time believing that about yourself. You may have been taught (by families or systems) that you are bad, lazy or selfish. You are scared to make decisions or trust your intuition. You want to love yourself the way you love others! I offer a radically different perspective. I think it is possible to love yourself a little bit at a time, take things less personally and create more space in your life for peace.

My name is Shannon (she/her), and I came into this field, as many mental health professionals do, in response to my own inner demons and trauma. I have a passion for women’s issues, the queer population, and folx affected by sexual trauma and domestic violence. I am a single mom with two small kids, two cats, and a rambunctious dog, so needless to say I understand the strain of trying to balance a busy life. My approach to therapy is grounded in CBT and feminist therapy, with a few sprinkles of radical acceptance and dark humor. I am also a firm believer that my client is the expert on their own life, and I am happy to adjust my styles and/or make more appropriate referrals when I am not the right fit.
