Hello! I am a licensed clinical therapist with over 8 years of counseling experience. My expertise lies in helping people achieve their goals of stress reduction, improved coping skills, communication, and self-esteem. My eclectic approach includes extensive knowledge in cognitive behavioral, client-centered, and trauma-informed therapy modalities. As an Afro-Latina myself, I know that having a culturally-sensitive therapist is very important to ensure that clients feel heard and supported in sessions. I believe in creating a space of acceptance and unconditional positive regard in order to foster self-acceptance and healing. My therapeutic style is warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental. I am a firm believer in starting where you are at and establishing a strong therapeutic relationship to achieve your goals. I will tailor my therapeutic style to your needs as I gain a deeper understanding of your concerns and goals. I prefer to work with patients that are open to becoming more self-aware and learn coping skills to manage their mental health. In our first session, I will establish a therapeutic working relationship with you and ask you what brings you in to counseling. If you think we might be a good fit, please reach out! I am part of the Path referral network, which means that when you reach out, my team will get back to you quickly to schedule our first session. I am committed to making therapy affordable. Through Path, I am in-network for most commercial insurances, so you're only responsible for your co-pay!
I was called to this work at a young age after seeing that many people in my neighborhood in the Bronx and in my parents’ home country had no access to mental health care. I wanted to be able to provide mental health support to people from all walks of life. I received my bachelor's of science in psychology from Fordham University, where I subsequently completed my Master of Social Work degree. Following graduation, I became a family therapist, helping parents and youth work on complex family issues and conflict resolution. I worked in a variety of settings, including psychiatric residences, homeless outreach, New York City’s Administration for Children's Services, and a group psychotherapy practice in the Financial District. I currently provide individual psychotherapy as a private practitioner in addition to working at Montefiore Medical Center as a senior mental health specialist. I strive to create a welcoming environment from the very first session. I believe in forming a strong alliance with my clients to create a comfortable space to open up about personal struggles. Collaboration, humor, and validation are key components to my work. I guide people in learning skills that are applicable to everyday life. I was raised in a very racially, ethnically, and religiously diverse environment. Support of marginalized people is a core part of my worldview and translates into my practice. I enjoy working with individuals of diverse backgrounds and identities and helping them navigate the modern world.

I am a New York State licensed Psychotherapist experienced in working with a broad range of issues including depression, anxiety, loss and grief, LGBTQIA+ issues, family and relationship struggles, identity, complex life transitions, and trauma ranging from the personal to systemic. I am a graduate of Hunter College’s Silberman School of Social Work and completed training in working with Couples and Families through the Ackerman Institute for the Family and advanced post graduate training in Relational Therapy at the Stephen A. Mitchell Center for Relational Studies. I bring warmth, deep listening, honesty, cultural sensitivity and humility, and a spirit of collaboration, authenticity, and humor to my therapeutic work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I have worked extensively with adolescents and emergent adults and understand that these junctures typically involve a great deal of growth and change. This can in turn be exciting and wonderful, and also sometimes disorienting and overwhelming. I approach therapy as a collaborative exploration of an individual's lived experiences, the meanings they make out of these experiences, and the relationships they cultivate with self and others in the context of these experiences and meaning-making. In therapy together we slow these conscious and lesser conscious processes down to better understand what might be happening, where people may be stuck in self-limiting narratives or patterns, where resilience, joy, and strength can be recognized, and where growth and change are possible.

I am a humanistic and relational therapist that is passionate about the power of human connection and strongly values the healing properties of the therapeutic relationship. I strive to create a warm and safe space where individuals can feel safe to explore difficult topics, believing that this is the first and most important step in the healing process. I recognize that the human experience is often deeply complex and painful, yet has the potential to be beautiful and fulfilling as well. My goal in working with people is to walk alongside them and help them to better understand themselves, gain insight, work through the more painful moments of the past, and discover their own capability to cope with and grow through life’s hardships. My approach to therapy is holistic, exploring the many components and intersecting areas of a person’s life. Additionally, I work to tailor each therapeutic experience to the individual, accounting for the unique needs of each person. I have experience working with trauma, substance use, anxiety, depression, identity issues, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I love utilizing humor, creativity, and mindfulness in session, as I believe tapping into these elements can be incredibly healing.
